Jerseys from China

Submitted by jeff_91121 on

I took the chance a few weeks ago and bought 3 jerseys from China, an old Nike style Woodson away jersey, an away CCM style Yzerman jersey, and an away Verlander Majestic style. They all cost around $20 each along with $20 to ship and $20 for insurance. I'm pretty impressed with the quality of all of them. I went back and forth with sizing when I bought them and I wish I had gone one size bigger with the Woodson jersey but the other 2 fit great. Granted I don't know how they will last after several wash/dry cycles. I've wash and dried them all once and there was no bleeding or threads coming loose.

To those who are against buying "replica" jerseys from China, I get it, but I just can't rationalize or afford to spend a couple hundred dollars on a jersey.

To anyone that has any questions about the jerseys, ask away. I am not sure what the rules are for posting the site I used but if it is ok to post that info I will. Honestly most of the sites I looked at had the same products.

I can also post pics if anyone is interested.

All Jerseys Are Made In China

Nike, Adidas, and UA all use the same set of factories for jersey and apparel production. Adidas use to then ship the jerseys to Israel for embroidering, and then finally to Wisconsin where nameplates and final touches were put on. So to an extent, all jerseys (both real, authentic, and fake) are all from China.

Why? I know this is a popular opinion, but I really don't understand it. If a grown man wants to wear a jersey or for that matter a glove to a baseball game, why shouldn't they? I thought the whole appeal of sports was a distraction from the rigors of real life and to get a couple hours of child-like joy. Can I say "we" when I discuss my favorite sports teams or is that against the rules too?

Bottom line, buying unlicensed merchandise is the same thing as buying a stolen TV out of the back of some guy's truck. If you're morally OK with that then that's your prerogative, but I personally find it distasteful to say the least.

Complete bullshit. The only thing that is "stolen" is the right to charge an exorbitant rent on the name and image of a team that participates in monopoly rent extraction in the form of enforced capitation based on the possibility of viewing and not actual viewing. Fuck them, give the pennies to the migratory labor in China.

So, you're kind of like Robin Hood except instead of noble intentions you want to pretend you have an expensive jersey to impress your friends. Cool. If you don't want to pay Nike prices or don't support Nike's corporate ethos then don't buy a Nike jersey. Don't pretend like using fancy words justifies buying counterfeit shit though.

...mined overpriced jerseys from the hills of Pennsylvania, this offends me. That's especially true since the Chinese invented global warming to keep down the white man.

I grew up in a city that made many cloths sold to US and europe, many famous brands. At some point, probably more than 50% (just a very vague number in my head, it's been too long) of the cloths for kids/infant sold in US are made from there. Time has passed, most factories closed out or moved to Vetnam or other south east asia countries.

It's funny that I was doing the opposite in terms of buying UM clothes. When I visited my family, I sometimes bought some UM stuff from Mden or TJMax as gift to some close relatives. They only care about authentic real appeal, like Nike and Addias. Most people in China are fans of european soccer clubs, so most jeseys people wear are red (Man U, Ansenal, etc.) or white (Real Madrid, etc.) or striped (Juventus, Barca, Milans etc.) Maize and Blue are so unique that you won't see any color match up beaututifully like that in China. I remember my mom wore my lloyd carr cap out for daily activity, and when my consin saw it just asked to have it. Because it's a Nike cap, and it looks great and unique. Of course, my mom didn't look good wearing a cap, so there she gave it to him.

BTW, there are quite some Chinese fans (I am not talking about american born chinese) visit this forum as far as I know. Although they don't necessarily like to post, the grammar nazi is harsh sometimes.

I wish Michigan would have insisted their apparel was made in the USA.  They are still textile factories stateside that can produce this economically....not at sweatshop wages but for the price Nike is charging I think people would be okay paying a bit more to buy American.
