OT: Euro 2016 Day Five
Russia v. Slovakia at 8:00am CDT
Romania v. Switzerland at 11:00am CDT
France v. Albania at 2:00pm CDT
The rubber really hits the road here for these teams, as this is the second group match for all six of these teams. France and Suisse can secure knockout round places with wins. Russia has been threatened with expulsion from the tournament if Hotel Putingrad's boys cannot control themselves inside the stadium.
I see the first two games ending up as draws, while France dispatches Albania (who I still am having a hard time believing is in this tournament).

No kidding - England really is looking bad considering how Slovakia is playing.

That is fucking crazy
Such a peaceful country. The Ukrainians have nothing to fear.
Nothing at all.
Man, that video makes hooliganing seem so sexy and cool. Sign me up!
It's the shorts.
The one bad thing about Russian ultras is that once you knock one down 10 other smaller ones appear.

The Russian manager is looking extremely concerned that he's going to get a polonium injection, Putin-style.
Russia gets a goal 2-1 SVK with less than 10 left
I'm finding that my brain is running a different contest this summer, watching Copa America and Euro -- which country has the best TALENT at the games?
Not soccer talent, of cousre.
Right now -- and recognizing Euro is early -- I have ARGENTINA way out in front. Man... I mean, man... some of the talent they have in the stands. I'd have thought Brazil might be up there, but their talent has been subpar -- like their team. There was one shot of a Mexican fan who, well, left me breathless, but in terms of overall talent, Argentina is killing it. Maybe its the flak jackets everyone is wearing in France, but the talent in the stands at the Euro games hasn't been on par with the Copa games so far.
Venezuela had great talent too.
That might mean they are out regardless of this match if UEFA has any balls at all.

I lived in Paris during/after the bombings in the 80s. France has always struck me as a sort of police state that can't quite get the "police" part right. Lots of effort, good show. But you can't even get a fucking bottle of water into an American ballpark, never mind a flare.
Russians are probablly keistering the flares.
It's self-solving. Russia will suspend themselves by their play in their next match.
Buh bye, Rossiya
*Georgia looks around nervously*
You need to invade Slovakia for this. Teach them a lesson.
Wow, Albania fans are rarer on MGoBlog than Purdue fans.

Roll Tide ;)
Were the Xhakas' parents wearing half-Swiss/half-Albanian jerseys?
Well dang!

Seferovic cannot buy a goal right now. He's had a few very good chances already today.
Stancu converts the penalty and Romania is up 1-0 completely against the run of play.
Romanian Fan here. Hope we finally do something
4-2-3-1
Lloris
Sagna, Koscielny, Rami, Evra
Kante Matuidi
Coman Payet Martial
Giroud
Pogba and Griezmann benched. I'm looking forward to seeing Coman play, though.
Wow, that's a pretty surprising development. Neither was great in the first game but those are, arguably, France's two most talented players.
Well I don't think it was their play. I think it's an effort to rest them against an easy foe.
Yeah, Albania is by far the weakest of the field here.
