If I had a private or even a public high school anywhere in a warm climate with decent facilities I'm currently calling college athletic departments all over the country trying to bring them in this spring. I think this was money well spent because of the connections and publicity but it's also a boon for IMG and that money can be put to good use. I see it as a win all the way around especially for the kids involved. Even if there are schools out there with a bit lesser of facilities (I'm assuming IMGs are as good as they get on the high school level), that kind of money can really catapult a program in addition to doing a lot of good for the communities. Keep in mind there are some really shitty schools in FL that could really use the money to fund all kinds of programs.

Let's not forget that UM saved a shitload of money during summer camp.  Harbaugh had the boys stay in dorm rooms rather than hotels like most teams do. Even if UM football paid for the dorm rooms, the university still made money.

However, I am certain Jim cringed when he found out while in S.F. that D.B. was GIVING AWAY UM tickets in the Coke Sucker debacle. I am certain they said, "Fill it up again the right way, sir." His expenses, as has been mentioned are necessary to get us back to the level we need to be. That means exposure, of course, and he is doing the job. Don't even know, or wonder if he sometimes feels a bit foolish for the things he has done to put us in the public eye. My guess is no. But it needs to be done, will more than pay for itself by having the house full again with the deep-pocketed alum. UM football is a HAPPENING again and the price to get all the way back will be seen as one hell of an investment.

He is well aware of what it takes and I'd say the returns he's been receiving on his outlay have been more than impressive, even more so when you consider a very small amount - recruits he was able to finish off '15 with - and over 50% - the '16(signed and some in AA) and the '17 haul has yet to see the field. It's only going to get better.

I'm fine with UM leveraging one of their biggest advantages, their deep pockets, to get the program back where everyone wants it. In fact, it would be a huge missed opportunity not to. It's not like the AD is blowing all this money on football while Women's Soccer plays on a former medical waste dump, stepping on hypodermic needles and cutting themselves on the jagged remnants of aluminum bedpans. Not really a fan of stories like these, where they throw a large dollar amount out there and we're supposed to be outraged.

is not well treated in some stadiums.   It may not be cost savings so much as the reception they receive.  I can understand performing at MSU and ND because we're so much better represented in the stands.

Wisconsin comes to mind as they don't want to hear any band but their own.  Their fans verbally abuse the band from the visiting school the entire time they are on the field and sometimes individuals will harang the alumni club groups in the stands with obscenities during the entire game. No one does anything about it.  They are especially virulent about Michigan, but I've experienced the same bad behavior when attending games at Camp Randall against other schools as well.  I always found this amazing because people from Wisconsin (outside of game day) are in general very polite and pleasant.  Maybe it is something in the water in Madtown!

Iowa fans can get obnoxious as well.

As an aside, I've never seen the degree of staffing at away games that we see in Michigan Stadium.  It's not unusual to see people escorted out in AA.
