NCAA Softball Selection Show
10pm on ESPNU.
The committee just revealed the top-4 national seeds as they do every year 30 minutes before the selection.
Michigan will be the 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history.

I'll bet Florida has been practicing stepping into pitches.
I believe they've changed the rule this season so that if the ball is not inside the batter's box, a hit-by-pitch is not an automatic walk. Should make it less effective.
We could get BYU, which would mean Thr-Sat regional.
Nebraska may not make it.
How could Illinois and OSU be in over them? Wouldn't that be absolutely shocking?
James Madison has to have the best regional draw. What the heck.
No BYU! Phew.
Notre Dame/Miami OH/Valpo are with us.

Notre Dame in basketball, hockey and now softball? This HAS to a sign from above that football needs to be restarted.

BTN.
BTN has picked up other regionals before actually.

They could, but I remember Minnesota playing one on BTN before.
ESPN would never plug another network because they're children and want you to think they're the only sports network.
Makes me giggle. When the BCS games were on FOX, they never said what channel they were on.
I guess there was no TV coverage and there was only radio or live stats. Shame.

Valparaiso is 18-32.
They made it in by upsetting everyone in the Horizon League tournament.

We couldnt have gotten a better draw FOR ONCE...Im estatic...I really dont think Mizzou will win their regional but even if they do its a good matchup for us..
Honestly, we may end up playing Nebraska. They've already beaten Louisville twice, and Missouri is the weakest ranked seed. (I know that technically they are above Georgia, but Georgia swept them in a 3 game series head to head, 12-4, 10-0, 6-3. On their home field in Missouir. It wasn't even remotely competitive).
Nebraska is garbage.
They lost to Maryland, aka the worst team in the conference.
They also lost to PSU who is bad and should feel bad.
And they lost to Wisconsin who also stinks.

I'm judging them by their losses.
Of course they're going to get up to play the #1 ranked team.
But losing to horrific Maryland 7-4, giving up 8 and losing to bad PSU and losing to stinky Wisconsin tells me quite a bit.
They have talent but they sure don't play like it when it's not a big game. And even then, they still gave up 11 to Minnesota.

Well they have beaten us (#2 seed) and Oregon (#5 seed). In addition, they forced extra innings against Washington, a team we lost to.
They also beat James Madison, the #7 seed.
3 wins against Super Regional hosting teams is pretty damn impressive. We only have 3 wins against Super Regional hosting teams.
To call them garbage is insane. Your judgement is wrong. They definitely stand a chance in their regional.
Michigan went 5-2 against the other seeded teams; single wins against Oklahoma, Missouri and at UCLA and two wins at Florida State, with singles losses to Florida and Washington.
Because WD is a drama queen.
if Nebraska is garbage, that means Michigan lost to a garbage team earlier this season. Go figure.
Well they shut out our offense. So they can't be that garbage otherwise we certainly couldn't be a 2 seed.
I think Notre Dame hates playing the regional in Ann Arbor.
Notre Dame's season ended in the Ann Arbor regional in 1995, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Let's make it 12 for 12.
I knew it was alot but NOT that bad

go on sale?
I just took a look at my phone's MGoBlue2Go App and it has the Valpo game listed as 12am on Friday 5/20.
Being that most fans would probably choose sleep instead at such an hour, I like my chances at being able to buy tickets!

It's sad, but I am not sure if it still exists on the w. side of the state. I do know a few of my friends, rougly 15 years younger did belong to a team made up of players from Muskegon, Scotsville and Ludington I believe and that would have been when they were about 35, so wer're talking roughly 15 years ago.
We did have an unofficial Sunday baseball league we played in in the early 70s, but most of the better players were at college at that time so we decided to join a fast pitch league. We were inexperienced, so we started reasonably, one night a week in a Class C league. Within a few years, after acquiring a decent pitcher - no easy task - we moved up to twice a week and due to the pitcher and the experience of a few of our players were placed in a B league.
For those of you who did play, you know batting right around the 300 mark, against the level of pitching in the league was very good. I loved the different pitches in softball, the riser being the most significant, of course, and those that masterd it along with the art of mixing up their pitches were excellent. Not afraid to admit I was humbled on more than a few occasions after misguiding a riser by, oh probably no more than 6 inches, making the adjustment(right) and missing the following drop ball by about the same amount. Just like baseball though, you enjoyed your hot streaks, where everything looked as big as a basketball.
Even then, we knew it was dying on the west side, ptichers becoming more difficult to find with each new season. For some reason, the art, and it was just that, was not being passed down as it had been in the past. However, the east side of the state, especially the Midland area seemed to be thriving. A larger talent pool does make a world of difference.
So we finally gave in and joined a slow pitch league and although we played in the top league in Muskegon, simply no comparison. Fast pitch was my last experience where possessing genuine baseball skills was required to be among the best.
We all love our softball team, and rightfully so. These girls are extraordinary. I am not sure, simply due to the natural strength difference if they would have been capable of hitting home runs, and of course, there would be a difference in running speed. However, it seems to me in all other aspects they would at least be equal and I'm certain the pitching is much better in BIG softball than what we had. It's actually a great game to watch.
East siders, is the game still alive in any form over there? Thanks.
