Save the Date! Spring Football Game on April 17 at Michigan Stadium

ANN ARBOR – The University of Michigan football team will hold its annual spring game on Saturday, April 17, at Michigan Stadium. The final practice is open to the public and will be held at a time yet to be determined.

Last year, Michigan set a spring game attendance record with an estimated 50,000 fans at the alumni flag football game and final team scrimmage. Michigan Stadium is in the final stages of a $226 million year-round renovation that will be completed prior to the start of the 2010 season.

Check MGoBlue.com for updates and announcements on the spring game festivities.

Hooray and all that, save the date. We may make plans for some sort of MGoEvent to take place in conjunction with the spring game, but there are still 3 months to plan, so it's a long way off.

1) Good to see that they'll be able to have it in the stadium, what with construction and all that. I wonder if they'll have some suites ready to go, and show them off to donors and the like

2) Speaking of tours, it will be interesting to see what other events the athletic department and University hold in conjunction with the spring game. Last year it was locker room tours and alumni flag football game. I've heard tell that another sport may play a regular-season contest before the spring game, but haven't been able to confirm.

3) Please please please just hold a full-team scrimmage. I know with a young team it's nice to get a little more, like, practice, but it's much more interesting for the fans if you play a game. 1v1s and 2v2s, have notable alumni coach the opposite squads or something.

4) First chance for Michigan fans to see Devin Gardner, Austin White, Jeremy Jackson, Ricardo Miller, Christian Pace, Stephen Hopkins, and Jerald Robinson in a Michigan uniform. JT Turner, Fitzgerald Toussaint, and the like for that matter, too.

with my new daughter - She is just a few months old, but already knows a few basic things. She hates scarlet and gray, loves to pump her fist to "The Victors," and can't wait to go to the Big House for the first of a lifetime of visits! Let's get 85,000 there this year. Free admission means get there early and pick out the seats that you probably don't get anywhere near in a regular season game.

Let's see, wifey graduates in April, but this is right before finals. She's out. Kids are in, but last year my younger one pitched a fit before the game and I had to leave early. She will be understanding this year, or she won't be going. The older girl loves Michigan, she's all for it. And MGoJen, please- cookies yes, MGoVeggieAnything no no, a thousand times no. Also, plz have the locker room tour at 3 am, so we can actually go this time, kthx. Might bring some other MGoKids that I know from church. Really, what is there to complain about free football in April? It's a gift from the football gods!
