OT: UFC 194 Predictions or Fri Night Drinking Thread

Submitted by SwitchbladeSam on

One of the better cards I've seen in awhile. I'm a pretty big fight fan and like to put a little money on them.  I know there are some other gamblers out there (Degenerates Thursday), but I'm not sure about mma fans so I figured I'd test the waters. Can't wait for McGregor Vs. Aldo.  I'll spare you my fight breakdown where I pretend I know way more about it than I probably actually do and just tell you who I think will win...

Have to take Mcgregor.  Though it's hard to bet against either

I like Weidman to win.  Only because I've been betting against him for 4 years and losing- I give up

I've got Romero over Souza- Nelson over Maia- and finally I'll have to take Holloway over Stephens.

I also like Mendes over Edgar tonight...

So... any fight fans out there want to make any predictions?  If not, neg me and tell what you're drinking. We can turn this in to a drinking thread.  I'm sipping a Dale's pale ale at the moment

I definitely agree with him not being as overhyped as Ronda Rousey was. WMMA is still in it's infancy and that division is thinner than any in all of MMA. McGregor is still very good, but I don't think he is as great as his hype suggests. He makes money so Dana White slurps him up. The only way I see McGregor beating Aldo is by flash KO, but Aldo is very tough and definitely has a speed advantage, but at the same time McGregor is huge for a FW. Still got Aldo, though, couldn't believe he was a betting underdog

I feel ya man. I've been looking forward to Aldo-McGregor since the first fight between them was announced. Should be a fun fight. I'm glad to see Aldo fight someone who cannot threaten to take him down for the first time in awhile. Met Aldo in Detroit about 6-7 years ago. He couldn't really speak english but he seemed pretty grateful for all the support he got ha ha

Also I got Souza over Romero and Edgar over Mendes. Edgar has much better technical boxing and is just a machine although I don't like him at all. Thanks for reminding me about these fights tonight, though. I forgot they were even happening. Been doing school work for 9 fucking hours. Now chugging some vodka

I am going with Jose Aldo over McGregor. Both are great fighters but hard for me to pick McGregor after I saw him get domianted by an out of shape Mendes for two rounds. Mendes pretty much came off the couch and had his way with him until he gassed.

I am picking Rockhold over Weidmen, but this one I think is the hardest pick. I think Rockhold's game is way more diverse thna Weidmen, but I will be pulling for Weidmen, cause I think Rockhold is a prick.

Souza over Romero. Another great matchup but this is my best pick. I think Souza has way too much for Romero both on his feet and on the ground.

Nelson and Maia will be close too, but I am going with Nelson, cause I think he can avoid a submission and edge out a decision.

Edger and Mendes is 50/50 but if i had to make a pick i would go with Edger.

I agree he didn't look great against Mendes, but Mendes is a badass wrestler with some pop. Mendes was a bad matchup for him that he had to prepare for on short notice.

Aldo is a completely different fighter. I'm not confident in my pick at all. I have it 60/40 Con. But like I said, I like both fighters and appreciate the sport

The Edgar ko was surprising. I did think they stopped it early though. That shot crumbled him like a cookie, but he was back ready to fight when the ref called it. Me Vs You, i'll stand behind my McGregor, Weidman and Romero picks. I'll atleast go 2-1 on those. I'll eat a lemon if I don't.

Aldo is an underdog now, I feel like that is the better bet. Im rooting for McGregor but am still pretty convinced that Jose is the better all around fighter. Well see how rusty Aldo is with this extended break he has had between fights. You have to think his gameplan is to put Connor on his back and see how he responds.
