Josh Newberg, who reported the original interest just tweeted that Pruitt is no longer considering Michigan and will not meet tomorrow due to "family ties in the south"

I guess he's thinking it over now?

I can't see him turning down a Harbaugh offer twice. He'll probably take the job if he doesn't become the next head coach at BYU.

Georgia owes both coordinators him a pretty nice buyout if they're fired. If he takes a job, that money is gone.

I think that is possible and probably part of it. Georgia doesn't want him to be recruiting against them especially when Kirby Smart will not start on the job until January. Pruitt will only be able to keep that money until he is officially released and another DC is named at Georgia. Why is Georgia (and Smart) letting him go though?
The 3 prime DC jobs in the Southeast this offseason are Alabama, Georgia, and FSU/Auburn (depends if report is true that Auburn is hiring FSU DC)--all from the Saban tree and all places Pruitt coached.
I would assume if he is as good as people are saying he is or if Saban really wanted him back at Alabama, Kirby Smart would want to keep him at Georgia? Smart has experience working with Pruitt under him at Alabama, and I assume he could smooth out any issues if it was UGA administration that had a problem with Pruitt. So it seems like there is more here than just the contract. FSU is also coached by someone from the Saban coaching tree where Pruitt first moved up to DC and won a national championship in 2013. If Alabama and FSU were both hot for Pruitt, wouldn't Smart want to keep him? Smart should know Pruitt better than anyone else, and if he passes there has to be other issues with Pruitt.
