I'll go with 1970 where the entire defense thought it was hilarious that New Orleans was trying a 63 yard field goal, until Tom Dempsey boots it through to the amazement of all at that time. It could only have been the Lions to lose in a way never dreamed of until then.

Bobby Ross going for 2 in Arizona comes to mind. There aren't a lot, if any, worse franchises in all of professional sports, so I guess we have that.

the thanksgiving game against Houston a few years ago. The Lions got penalized for throwing a challenge flag on a touchdown that was subject to an automatic review and absolutely would have been overturned. Instead they got a penalty and the play was no longer reviewable.
Only the Lions could lose by not knowing and then having that absolutely asanine rule cost them the game.
