Despite being down by 19 points heading into the locker room at halftime, a swarm of Rutgers players decided to use it as a reason to talk smack to Wolverines' players heading into the tunnel and it fired up not only the players, but head coach Jim Harbaugh as well.

"Coach was kind of mad because those guys were excited being down 19 at half and they were celebrating," cornerback Jourdan Lewis said. "He wanted to put points up on the board and make sure we established our dominance over them. They were celebrating and coach was pretty mad about that. I can't really repeat what he said at halftime (laughs), but it was a lot. He wanted to bring that fire back in the second half and finish them off."

Normally running up the score is a little distasteful in my mind, but any time it's in response to a bunch of assholes woofing like idiots after giving up five touchdowns in the first half, I'd be disappointed if we'd scored another touchdown and didn't do it again.

They were saying things like 'it's our time in the second half', 'we're the comeback kids', 'these guys can't finish games' and stuff like that. I know a lot of those guys so it was a little more personal for me but football is still football and we prepare for every team the same way."

I like that Rutgers' players can delude themselves into thinking that they had any sort of realistic chance in this game. It's a special kind of motivational speech that fails to translate into on-field results.

Good. Show no mercy to those scumbags. They have an over inflated sense of ego after barely beating a god awful Michigan team last year.

Hoke would've apologized about how he may have angered Rutgers during the game.

Harbaugh prefers to laugh at you, stick his foot right up your ass, and have you beg him for mercy.

So 13 years ago my son was playing on a travel hockey team comprised of twelve year olds Was coached by a terrific coach and gentleman and if we were ahead by a comfortable margin he would always slow play and back off and would tell his players to pass but not shoot.

 

The kids were playing a much bigger, goon type team and we were ahead 8-1 and the parents were surprised that our boys were still aggressively shooting the puck. We won 12-1 and when I asked my son why the guys kept on shooting and scoring as this was contradictory to the coach's MO, my kid said the opposing team was constantly talking smack that our coach would walk up and down the bench with only one directive, "Keep on scoring. We are going to teach them a lesson."
