Delonte Hollowell - Looking for Support for Graduate School [LOCKED]

Submitted by NeilGoBlue on

Hello,

Delonte Hollowell (DB 2011-2014) is looking for support for graduate school.  He started a gofundme page.

Whatever the MGOBLOG community can do to support a former player would be great. His info is on the page itself.

(I'm just an alumni that he reached out to).

I pointed him to this thread, so he might be able to answer any questions himself.

MOD EDIT - locking this one. Way too many groan-inducing replies to make it worth salvaging. To the OP, if Hollowell is willing to post something himself here, let me know - that might be best. - LSA

Some of the animosity may be the use of Support

Yes semantics but... support tends to carry with it a need for a burden to be carried by the community. You support someone for their loss or because they NEED. I think people, myself included, may have thought support was needed due to a need. This is more of an Ask.

Just my $8.47 (god I posted too much on this).

But I can't blame him for trying. He is leveraging his "fame"  as an UM football player to try to better himself. The worse that can happen is that people do not donate and he has to find another way to pay for grad school.

Audacity can be quite lucrative.

I find it hilarious that so many on here think they've "earned" their way into careers and that their career is more significant to helping the world go round. So, you make a 6 figure salary designing an automakers next rear view mirror....impressive! Good for you rich folk out there but I guarantee I could find people who helped you along your way on your journey. This kid is pursuing a noble career. Think about who you'll be coming to when you need to fix your marriage or counsel your unruly child? Give the kid a break

You guys donating are sheep.
Guy is on scholly 4 years and you give him money! Haha
Loans work for washed up former athletes too! Haha
Anyone giving to a GFM must be comfortable with just burning money, bc your money just vanishes with no promise of how its used.

While it's a nice cause, loans are an unfortunate part of almost every person's life. I would say that it is safe to say that the overwhelming majority of people need to take out loans at some point in their lives, be it a house, car, or an education.

People are actually donating to this? I'm sure Delonte is a fine young man, but giving this kid money is the ultimate jock sniffer move.
