Michigan out of running for Cassius Winston

Submitted by ypsituckyboy on

Per his Twitter, he's down to Pitt, Stanford, and MSU. Looks like he tried to push back his timeline a bit and was told we couldn't wait that long since we'd lose out on back-up options if he didn't end up at UM.

TeJon Lucas, come on down.

Lets not forget that Michigan has won 2 of the last 4 Big Ten Titles and finished 2nd one other time in 4 years...as long as we have JB we are in Great shape and I for one think we are going to be pretty darn good this year...not to worry

It's shocking to me that more top recruits don't wanna come here. The progression of a lot of these kids this coaching staff has done is beyond amazing. Coach B and staff have proved time and again how great they are at developing players and putting them in great position to be drafted. Imagine what they could do with top talent. It would be fun to see.

I've been saying for a while now that is I was hoping we'd land Bryce Aiken or Te'Jon Lucas (in that order) over Winston anyway. If we end up with one of those two now, I'll be thrilled.

I've saying for a minute, Pitt has a better chance to land him than most think. From what I've heard, he wants to play early. MSU (who has been considered the frontrunner) has a PG that Izzo is in love with (Narin), and Cassius game isn't suited to play off-the-ball like Trice did whenever they played together.

Pitt's staff has deep Detroit connections, and has been trying to build a pipeline to the city.  Izzo could've went to visit Winston because of him rumblings of Cass-to-Pitt (why else would he show up? Cassius has an official to MSU on Saturday). Wouldn't be surprised Cassius landed at Pitt at all.

It’s a bummer that Beilein ca’t consistently land top recruits, but I’d like to think that I can speak for most everyone here when I say that Beilein has earned the benefit of the doubt.

He turns 3 star unknowns into Wooden Award winners. The man has two Big Ten titles, one outright, a national title appearance, two straight years where one of his players earned Big Ten POTY. 4 1st round draft picks over the last 3 years, and the potential of adding 1-2 more next season depending on how LeVert and Irvin perform. Not to mention being voted as the best offensive mind in the game by a jury of his peers.

No one in the college basketball world can dispute Beilein’s ability to identify and develop talent to its fullest potential. That’s the only way you explain situations like Spike Albrecht outplaying D’Angelo Russell. Bottom line: if a recruit is good enough for Beilein, whether he be a three or five star, he’s good enough for all of us. Beilein has consistently beaten teams that, on paper, have more talent than his team, and he’ll continue doing it well into the future.
