Herbstreit calls Brady Hoke criticism a 'witch hunt'

Submitted by Cold War on

Is this Hoke criticism about Morris' injury even a story if UM were 4-0 ranked in the top 10? #witchhunt

I'm not saying head injuries aren't VERY serious, just saying the reaction is over the top because of how badly UM is playing under Hoke.

It's called human nature Kirk.  Sieze any opportunity to bring about a desired outcome.  Was it a witch hunt when they put Al Capone away for tax evasion?  (relax, some of you - NOT equating Al Capone with Brady Hoke)

Last confernce of experts on concussion in Zurich 2008 stated that any athlete with even a suspected concussion be "immediately removed from play", should undergo "urgent" medical assessment, and should not be left alone. Testing is for memory function and balance testing.  Its irrespective of team record, and is not a witch hunt if lack of proper care and uninformed coaching was endagering an individual and there is a public demand for accountability.

The whole concussion debacle simply symbolizes and sums up how badly the AD is being run and how poorly Hoke's teams have played in the past 3 years.

If the team was playing well and we were in the top 20 with a real chance of beating MSU and OSU on the road, this story would not be a big deal. Hoke would be pooping gold and Brandon would be just OK!

But we're not and this brings up the issue of how aware Hoke is to what is going on on the field. If he did have that awareness and we were winning this would have been a mistake. Given the totality of everything he's just clueless and that amounts to recklessness.

I'm more mad about the reaction. We should have had a statement on Sunday saying that the coaches and staff made a huge mistake, here's how it happened, and here's how we're going to fix that.
