OT: Walkoff Grand Slam Posbang Thread
The shot heard round Detroit ends it 5-4.
Loudly!
BANG!
i make 3. guess i cant take credit for the win.
i did the same thing a couple years ago when they came back like 7 runs in the 9th vs the angels of all teams.
anyone noticing how phil coke has resurrected his career? not many saw that coming.
My dad texted me that a huge storm was rolling in so I left down 4-1 in the 8th to beat the storm back to Ann Arbor. I hate myself so much.
BANG!
Holy balls!
It's hard to imagine a more dramatic fashion to honor the 1984 team than a walkoff grand slam, so that was rather awesome on several levels. Well, there's also this clip of Gibson's homerun in 1984 with some on-field audio too....
I've never seen a walk off grand slam before to win by one run. There isn't a little leaguer in America that hasn't dreamt of that moment. . .
Huzzah boys, huzzah!
they played this clip during the 8th. cant believe i hadnt seen it before. im a bit too young to have many memories of sparky - some commercial he did for an italian restaurant where his server couldn't get the parmessian cheese over his plate... its easy to see in that clip that he was a great baseball manager. its like the antithesis to moneyball and i love it.
i wanted to find the commercial i was referrencing but failed. however, i did find this - i think this will due for a consolation prize. plus, its not even OT!
I will never tire of listening to and watching that!
Great shot. Flipping back and forth between the Cubs just missing a no no and then this.
I was following along on my phone, saw the bases juiced and said, "C'mon Raj...just hit a home run here." And then I chuckled and pulled up my e-mail right before I was about to head upstairs to bed. And then I get the final score notice, and I stared at my phone for a full minute.
Big comeback win.
Wow! What an ending!
Oh yes it does!
Talk about "Bang!"
ah?..... Ah?!
so in ESPN's mind it doesn't matter.
a game that was full of glitches, between the 8 innings of sputtering Tigers offense and FoxSportsDetroit's technical problems causing an embarassing inaudible inning-long interview of Dan Petry, then the entire audio feed crashing for an additional inning or so.
On top of that, a severe thunderstorm rolled thru SW Michigan around 9:30 and wiped out my DirecTV signal, so I missed even more action.
I finally returned to the broadcast in the 8th inning, in plenty of time to see Davis's walk-off grand slam.
Those who stay with the Tigers will see a World Championship every 30 years or so...
Dan Dickerson's call was phenomenal.
Just got done watching the game on delay. Man what a finish! Everytime Doolittle tucks his glove under his chin I just want to slap the shit out his fruity hipster face. Glad Davis and company was able to hit him where it hurts for us all.
Damn, saw 4-1 with Coke on the mound and I thought that was all she wrote...
