There are two points to consider. Until now Lewan was not worth suing, at this point one must consider the OSU fan may have a strong financial motive to pursue this as far as possible.

The op presents this as "she now says". Has his former girlfriend changed her statements to the police? I find it odd that she expressed concern that people would "feel she was lying" and her characterization that "she knows what happened and Taylor is lying".

If this goes to trial evidence will be presented and tested and we'll have a better understanding of what happened and will be in a better position to make an informed judgement. Until then this is all just emotion driven speculation and I for one will grant Lewan the presumption of innocence until guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

I'll wait until the real facts come out, not what some jaded ex-girlfriend has to say. Sick some of you are trashing one of our own.

None of us know what happened.  Its possible the fan deserved it and I'd be happy that it occurred, it's possible it was completely inappropriate and i'd be disgusted with his action.  Just like none of us know exactly what he said with respect to the rape case, could have been completely benign, could have been in poor taste, could have been terribly threatening.  It seems kinda silly to be debating and forming strong opinions on things we'll never have enough details about.
