MBB Remains at #2 in AP Poll

The good guys still at #2 in the AP poll behind Duke, with voters giving us nine first place votes.

Should be noted that Duke has played zero road games this season – but that is going to change quickly.  They are at Wake Forest tomorrow night, and at #13 Florida State on Saturday.  Let’s see how well the talented freshmen play in a hostile environment

With Kansas and Nevada losing, Sparty has now moved up to #6.  Looks like a couple epic match-ups coming with our in state brethren in late February.

(eyeroll)

Duke has beaten Kentucky, Auburn & Texas Tech who currently rank #18, #11 & #8 in the AP Poll. Duke beat Indiana by 21 at home.

Michigan has beaten Villanova, Purdue & North Carolina who currently rank NR, NR & #12 in the AP Poll. Michigan beat Indiana by 11 at home.

Duke's only loss is to the current #5 team on a neutral floor. We haven't played anyone ranked that high.

Nah, Duke is more talented, is murdering teams by even more (see IU by 21, hence they're way ahead in the predictive rankings), and has an impressive resume in their own right.

They have neutral court wins over top ten teams Auburn and Texas Tech, the obliteration of top 25 Kentucky, and their one loss to Gonzaga on a neutral floor was a significantly more difficult game than any Michigan has played.

They deserve to be #1.

EDIT: Sorry, just in after Reggie.  We clearly agree here.

What a great stretch to enjoy the basketball team. If they can win 3-4 more without a loss they will move into the category of a team which does not drop much if/when they do lose a game.

Can someone explain to me how or why Iowa fell out of the top 25 after beating a fellow top 25 opponent? Their 3 losses are to 3 likely tourney teams and 2 of those were on the road.

They have looked horrible against Purdue and MSU. They are not a top 25 team. They could be hard to play on the road, but they aren't nearly as good as their record. Almost all of their wins are against bad teams, and had 30 point deficits to MSU and Purdue.
