Show some respect by at least explaining who this is. Not all of us follow hockey.

Thanks very much. Some of us are too timid to post your comment, but I agree. I have never heard of this person.

I did not know who he was either but just read the story you posted and the one linked below. Very sad.

So sad, happy he was able to make it back to campus for the 20th anniversary of their title this fall though.

Sorry to hear that. ALS is just an awful, awful disease. Wish his young family the best.

For those who didn't know, Matzka played hockey for Michigan from 1997 to 2001.
Very sad news. Just saw a few tweets pass through my feed.

Assistant Captain his senior year if I recall correctly. Also a CS major.

First, this is awful news about a great Michigan man who dealt with a terminal disease with a dignity, class and resolve that I know I could never muster myself.
Second, considering all the time, energy and money spent on the new MGoBlog, it's mind-boggling that a simple function like being able to edit OPs doesn't exist.
If it did exist, then it would be possible for those who post completely uninformative content to go back and provide context and background information.

Was a hit and run OP anyway. The author has made no attempt to clarify. I wish he would so I could neg him.

Peace to Scott and his family.
For those that Don't know who Scott was
Read the article and count your blessings.

Really sad news. ALS is awful.

Man, I feel so sorry for him, his wife, and their two young kids. ALS, like so many illnesses, is cruel.

Enjoyed watching him play, he was a big part of some of the best Michigan hockey teams I ever saw. This whole thing is just awful, thoughts are with his family and teammates.
