College Basketball Arena Atmosphere
Went to the game today which was my first in Crisler Center. I found the in game atmosphere to be awful compared to say a NBA game. Is there rules against showing things on the Jumbotron to try and get the crowd into the game in college arenas? I get it wasn’t a huge game, but it seems like some stuff on the Tron would help keep the fans interested.

What a terrible set of posts.
You come to a December finals week game when the alumni band is there and complain.
I have season tickets. There are periods every year where this happens and they're always around break/finals. Get a clue.

I agree me wanting fans to cheer on their team as they struggle with as many said is a bad opponent is a terrible take and horrible post.
Love how a good post is excuses why an arena probably 80% full sounded like a freaking church.

Western Michigan on the weekend during finals just isn't going to be a big draw. The next couple games are probably going to have light attendance - 3 days before Christmas and then in the dead zone between Christmas and New Year's. Not a whole lot of people hang around. It was easy for me to do when I was there, but then I was only coming from as far as Saline.
Conference play will probably have some loud crowds.

After attending random games over the last few years, I decided to get season tickets this year (yes, I'm driving from Ft. Wayne, IN). I've been to UNC, Purdue and the game today and my tickets are right next to a season ticket holder who for ALL 3 games has NEVER CHEERED ONE FUCKING TIME at any game. WTF ! Oh yeah he wasn't at the UNC game because it started at 9:30 ... wait for it ... he lives in ANN ARBOR. WTF times 1 million.
I don't get it ... why spend the money when he should be at home telling everyone to STAY OFF HIS LAWN !!!
Go Blue!

I kind of feel like we make these excuses for half the games UM plays. "It was a 9:30 tip" "It's on Tuesday night" "the opponent wasn't that good" etc etc.
At some point the AD has to do a better job of getting people to not only buy the tickets but actually show up.

Attendance wasn't light. The arena was probably 80% full and it was super quiet. You go to a game and support and cheer on your team. Same set of excuse making babies would have been running to Home Depot & Lowe's for pitchforks and torches had the team somehow lost the game.

Oh my. Just, oh my.

NBA atmosphere is terrible compared to Crisler for an average regular season game. The game itself is the entertainment not the jumbotron

The crowd was fine for a crappy opponent. It's usually a mausoleum for those types of games. I thought this crowd was relatively loud, all things considered..
More jumbotron noise would be terrible. The Alumni Band was awesome today. How about more band noise?
I do think more lower bowl season ticket holders should sell their tickets if they're not going to attend the game. No reason for empty lower bowl seats this year.

Nobody said to pipe in noise or music. I simply said throw up and Get Loud!!!! Or Defense!!! or Cheer!!!! not quantum physics. Yet it tends to get the stiff duds off their asses and cheering.

In all honesty, this was a tough game to get excited about in all facets. Michigan was down all of the first half until a last second shot, and they routinely missed easy buckets. I was watching the game on TV, and while I never really thought they would lose, I was pretty checked out by the end of the first half. Maybe paid attention for a minute or two at most in the 2nd.

Artificial noise IS the reason I no longer attend nba games.
You can have that shit, op.

Did I say play music or artificial noise? I said things up on a big screen egging the fans on to cheer more and to get off their lazy asses. You obviously never played sports, but nothing is more deflating then playing for a shitty silent home crowd.

This is a bad post, and a bad take, and you should feel bad.

How so??? Fan expecting better support of team and fans cheering is bad??? What a tool you are
