"We're All Disappointed, But Are We Surprised?"

Yes I am surprised when our #1 defense with 1st/2nd round picks at all three levels, with our all world D coordinator gives up more points in our most important game than any other Michigan defense, EVER, GERG defenses included.

I think there has to be a bit more detail about what we are disappointed/surprised by. I would say that I am both at this point. Disappointed that M lost the game and whole-heartedly shocked and surprised in the fashion that they lost it. I certainly won't argue that I was probably in the camp that would have taken a 9-3 season as a step in the right direction back in July with a loss to OSU in there somewhere. That said, giving up 62 (or 55 if you don't count the blocked punt return as points against the D) is shocking now and would have been shocking as a thought back in July.
Had a conversation with a buddy of mine yesterday about what happened on Saturday. He is typically a pretty level-headed, optimistic fan. His first comment about the game was, "Basically what this weekend did, was kill a little piece of me." Sure, that might be a knee jerk reaction, but who among us didn't feel a little like that at some point this weekend? So, disappointed? Yes. Surprised? Yes.
