The Real 'Wife Day' Thread

Submitted by xtramelanin on October 25th, 2018 at 3:08 PM

Mates,

It is obvious we need a 'Wife Day' thread since everybody wants to talk about it.  There was one on Monday, but because everybody was uber-amped after stomping Sparty, that thread lasted about 30 seconds on the board and was in the rear view mirror.   There was a misfire today in that the 'best Bye Week' strategy was interpreted as a clever lead in for that topic - but not so, that was actually a football topic so those are wasted too.

I have hopefully linked up the first and all-time greatest 'Wife Day' thread by (former?) mgoblogger Six Zero

here:https://mgoblog.com/diaries/preview-wifeday-2010

It is required annual reading.

And now the single question is this:  What are you doing for Wife Day?

My wife is an ND alum (I know, I know), so we are heading to the ND-Navy game since we live in SD. She's also a big CFB fan, so we'd probably just be watching stress-free football (for me at least), but since we're going to this game and tailgating all day, it's an added bonus that I don't have to stress about overlap with the Michigan game.

fiancé will be at her bridal shower with our new born, so no wife or child for me on Saturday. I’ll do my normal, drink some beers, eat some buffalo wings, and watch some college football.

Pretty good one for me this year: My wife bought us tickets to the Michigan Brewers Guild Detroit Beer Festival on Saturday...

We are having at open house at our home because 2 days ago while at Disneyland with the kids we got a call that the buyer of our home was killed by her brother while he was cleaning his gun. So yeah, that's a first. We have to pack up our dogs and go to the inlaws for a few hours to try and resell our home again.

The wife and I are heading to the Massacre Release Party at Wolverine State Brewing. Then who knows. Probably watching football together, trip to the swift run dog park.

My wife likes football.  We will probably carve pumpkins with the kids, watch 330 football, then have a family dinner.

Late to the party...

But, we are going to do door-to-door canvassing for a congressional rep candidate in our district.   Incumbent is a brick. Time for a change.

Please vote on Nov. 6.

It would not be possible for my wife to care less about sports less than she does already, and she's never heard of this "Wife Day" thing.

Her ignorance is my bliss.

Xtra, great thread. And been a while.

The bride (or "broad," if you're a despondent tOSU fan who considers mini golf as a great evening out) has a strict "one sport per day" policy, so we'll watch hockey.

Nice thing about your kid joining the Michigan alumni family is that she finds ways to make the place her own. So she'll be tuning in the game for us. She's way more of a hockey fan than my wife and I were, and it's been fun

Might be a brisket or ribs on though during the Purdue/Staee game, which I may watch downstairs. I did my masters at Purdue, so last Sat was pretty great.

ray, where've you been?  been flying?  you coming back to any games?

brisket/ribs sounds very good.  IIRC you live in the central or mountain time zone, and i thought purdue/msu was a noon game.  you better get that smoker going early.

hope all is well with you and yours

My husband is going to watch games all day. I'll probably watch the Michigan State game and hope for another implosion. I generally only watch teams I like or am familiar with, or ones that I want to lose in humiliating fashion. I'm also taking my daughter, who normally plays softball every weekend but has a bye herself, to the outlet mall where we will buy ourselves some hot chocolate and sit in the shiatsu massage chairs. If you've never tried one, you should. Fantastic.

It was one year ago on this Saturday that my father in law passed away. So I'm spending the day being available to hug away the tears. It's bittersweet because we know he's in heaven, but we miss him.
