OT - Um, guys the Tigers have won 10 straight (8/7 Game Thread)
I know we like to only have game threads when they lose so we can bitch at Jim Leyland (I keed, I keed), but how about them Tigers?
Tied with the tribe right now in the 7th. If they pull this game out, I'm ready to give us the division.
Buh-bye Ryan Raburn.
That Cleveland gun is definitely trumped up though haha.
That's what I figured they'd do.
Perhaps that had reason to believe Rondon would get the K. Perhaps they didn't want to risk a walk with the bases loaded. It's always an overlooked thing that when you load the bases you are forcing your pitcher to pitch closer to the zone.
The crowd goes wild.
Way to go Rondon... Did a great job limiting the damage on what could've been a disasterous inning... Now time to hit
Its like Leland doesn't want to win. Why would you not walk to load the bases with a .300 hitter up and one out. Is there a reason I am missing?
Loading the bases with a guy that, in the past, struggled with control is never something you want to do.
With how silly he made Raburn look, it's not the worst idea in the world to let him go for a strikeout and not hamstring him with the bases loaded.
If Gomez were to score you would be down 2 going into the top of the ninth! I really don't like the odds of coming back at that point are very good, it is the first two runners that matter.
Bleh.
Interesting call here.... I wonder how much bunting Pena has done in his career...
Who can I shoot in the head to get men to stop starting sentences with "ummm" or ending them with "that is all"?

You know what annoys me? When people complain about grammar or certain types of prose in writing that is not at all meant to be formal.

That's why bunting is for losers. You would have given up an out to get Santiago (.203) to the plate. Instead, they show bunt, let Pena get into a hitter's count, and let him get the job done.
Now they can bunt with a guy whose job it is to bunt and they get two cracks at the go-ahead run with a couple .300 hitters.
EDIT: Forgot Dirks came in for Iggy. Let's go AJax.

Well, shit. Would have liked to see Jackson work the count a bit. Torii had a good swing. C'est la vie. We've got quite the ball game here.

Heard from the Cleveland announcer before Cabrera's last at-bat:
"Miguel Cabrera is in scoring position every time he comes to the plate".

At least all 3 made contact between the bat and the ball.

Veras will be back out for the next inning unless we take the lead.

.203. Clearly he'll get to second base.
