[EDIT] SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE: Michigan will win 2013 NCAA bball title
Worry not, my stalwart friends. Beating Syracuse is a tall order, but it will happen. We will then defeat whoever we meet in the final. SCIENCE DOES NOT LIE, and SCIENCE says that Michigan is going to win it all:
1. Michigan just had a surprisingly easy win in the Elite 8. In 1989, we had a surprisingly easy win in the Elite 8, 102-65 over Virginia
2. Stauskas just hit 7 triples in the Elite 8 game. In 1989, Sean Higgins hit 7 triples in the Elite 8 game. [EDIT: Stauskas hit 6 triples, not 7. So, they both hit at least 6. In any event, Nik Stauskas and Sean Higgins both have 11 letters in their names - I know, scary, right?!]
3. Trey Burke is the B10 POY. In 1989, Glen Rice was B10 POY.
4. This year, Michigan blew out a team from Virginia (VCU) en route to the regional title. In 1989, Michigan also blew out a team from Virginia (Virginia) en route to the regional title.
5. This year, Michigan beat a directional school with "South" in their name: South Dakota St. In 1989, Michigan beat Southern Alabama.
6. In this year's semi-final, Michigan faces the Orangemen. In 1989's semi-final, we faced Illinois, whose main color is orange
7. Illinois and Syracuse both have 8 letters.
8. In 1989, Michigan won it all in Seattle. Both Seattle and Atlanta have 7 letters.
9. In 1989, Michigan faced Seton Hall in the final. Including the space between "Seton" and "Hall," there are 10 characters in Seton Hall.
Including the space between "Wichita" and "St", there are 10 characters in Wichita St
There are also ten characters in Louisville
10. In 1989, Michigan won the national title without winning their conference. This year, they will also win the national title without winning their conference.
[EDIT: 11. John Beilein and Steve Fisher both have 11 letters in their names. Not sure how I missed that before...]
So, the numbers clearly work. Don't worry about 2-3 zones, blah blah blah. We have SCIENCE on our side. And Trey Burke. I'll take that deadly combination any day, against anyone.
Go Blue!
this is what science is, isn't it? You put your work out there and others test it. We are really doing something important here [wipes away a tear]
The last 9 Champions all had BLUE as one of their main colors: UConn, North Carolina, Florida, Florida, Kansas, North Carolina, Duke, UConn, Kentucky and........
THIS HAS BEN GATES WRITTEN ALL OVER IT
There are a lot of weird similarities between this year and 1989. Besides the ones you mentioned, a couple others that have happened in both seasons:
-Michigan went 12-6 in Big Ten play
-Michigan lost seven total games in the regular season, including the home finale.
-We had an agonizing last-second loss at Wisconsin. (In '89 we lost when Robinson missed two FTs - or was it the front end? - in the final seconds.)
-IU swept us, with the game in Crisler being a one-point win.
-IU won the Big Ten title but failed to make the Final Four.
-We made a lineup change late in the season (starting Higgins in '89, starting McGary in '13)
-Michigan was the last Big Ten team standing both years.
One teensy difference: we didn't have to fire our coach this time around.
Robinson bricked both ends vs Wisconsin, which made it a much more picture-perfect ending when he nailed the pair vs Seton Hall with 3 seconds left in the final.
Hmmm...if the heartbreaking ending vs Wisconsin was reversed in the 1989 final, could that mean that in this year's final Michigan will deflect the inbounds pass or block the final shot as time expires??
discoveries and research in the the field of Tournament Champion Picks will be celebrated for generations to come. Einstein who?!?
By the way, how about this week's Powerball numbers? I'll give you a 20% cut.
GO BLUE!!!
The last season Michigan Hockey missed their NCAA tournament? 1989(-1990). Obviously basketball's next NCAA championship comes the next time hockey missed NCAA's, the bookend year of their (2012-)2013 season.
After this year, the only logical conclusion is that both teams win NCAA titles every year.
If we go by the scientifically proven hypothesis that the first letter of the city that we play in determines our probability of winning games, then we now have a 91.1% chance of winning the tournament given that we are now 21-1 in cities that start with the letter A.
Also, Michigan (1989) and Michigan (2013) both have 8 letters.
because if this works out, you could probably make a huge career from the numbers mumbo-jumbo. it would be like a jedi mind-trick. the irs agent would hesitate and say, 'no. these aren't the tax evaders we were looking for. their 1040 is fine. move along.'
YES...
