Everything But Expansion Thread, Posbangs Included
With expansion taking up a full third of the sidebar, the front page, and the front page of MSM outlets, I thought it might be fun to open a thread dedicated to avoiding the topic. Some other things going on in the MGoUniverse:
- BEAT OHIO!
- OSU is favored by 4.5, Iowa is a 14.5 underdog at home as of now.
- What are you thinking about Michigan v. Pitt basketball in NYC.
- What are you thinking about Michigan v. Cornell hockey in NYC (and the BGSU game at Yost on Wednesday).
- Anyone going to Columbus for The Game?
- ND or SEC? Ugh.
- Anything off topic but interesting. Good lunch? I'm sure we'd all love to hear, same goes for important things like good movies lately (I saw Skyfall and Lincoln last night), awesome or terrible Thanksgiving plans, or anything else that sounds good.

I can't believe that slipped my mind. Edited to the number one spot, because obviously.

Don't c'mon man him. The events of today reek of Borgesian cuisine. It is clearly his fault and he must go. This is the last straw!
In case it wasn't painfully obvious. /s

I got dragged by the MGoWife to the Twilight movie this weekend. It was better than all the other Twilight films she's dragged me to, only because this now means this was the last one and I'll never get dragged to one again.
On Blu-ray at home I caught Prometheus (awesome) and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter (okay).
That's about all I've seen lately. It's hard to get to theaters with an MGoKid now, cuts way down on how often I can hit the theaters. Fortunately, day care is open the week between Christmas and New Years, and the wife and I are taking the week off for a movie catchup marathon.

Did she let you bring your testicles?
November 19th, 2012 at 2:18 PM ^
she's had those in a jar on the shelf for a couple years now lol. Still, for every crapfest like Twilight, I console myself with the fact that I get to rip it to shreds when I review it on my blog. Plus, the ratio of "my movies : her movies" is still drastically in my favor.
November 19th, 2012 at 2:27 PM ^
Yea, but thats because the movies that guys want to see are usually good.
November 19th, 2012 at 2:36 PM ^
but my wife is not a fan of over the top violence such as stuff by QT, so films like Twilight are what I trade against films like Django Unchained. It is a small price to pay. At least this movie had a decent fight sequence at the end of it.
Plus this showing I was at happened to have one of the stars from the film, Peter Facinelli, in attendance to sign autographs and/or take pics with fans (but I wasn't about to shell out $20 bucks for it so I passed), so it was kinda cool to be 5 feet from a celeb.
To MGoUsers in the southern suburbs of Chicago - check out the theater Hollywood Palms in Naperville sometime if you haven't yet. It's a pretty cool theater.

I also thought Skyfall lived up to the hype, Sam Mendes delivered big time. Lincoln was eh. It wasn't bad, but I definitely didn't think it deserved the hype I've been hearing. Great acting, but I don't think Spielberg did a great job with the cut they released and I thought, given the title, that they could have done more (or less, which could be more interesting) than focus on the 13th Amendment and its passage.

So what do you guys think about this expansion talk anyways? Seems like everybody is pretty cool with it don't you think?
I'll hang up and listen.

How many signatures do we need to have to petition our secession from the Big Ten before Delany has to address it?
November 19th, 2012 at 2:27 PM ^
Succession or Recession or Concession. Anybody notice the increasing number of trolls and bullshit now that BiSB has retired? I had Indian for lunch and it was excellent. Who'd have thought that you could get quality Indian food in Nashville.
November 19th, 2012 at 2:39 PM ^
I've been trolling this board for longer than BiSB has been a mod. And doing it successfully, I might add. I'm actually Delonte West. Fooled you, bitches.
November 19th, 2012 at 2:42 PM ^
With 14k points, I imagine you've had your share of insightful stuff to say. I was referring to the O$U and Urban Liar variety of trolls. I miss the wrath of BiSB. I wonder if they will replace him. Maybe that is LaQuon Treadwell's big announcement; he is now a mod and you'd best watch your back.

Watching Michigan-Ohio themed YouTube videos at work instead of working.
I'm also getting pretty excited about getting out of Maryland and heading home to Big Ten country for Thanksgiving... Oh wait...
November 19th, 2012 at 2:14 PM ^
who is making the trip down to Columbus this Saturday?
November 19th, 2012 at 2:14 PM ^
I hate and love Ohio week. Hate it because i get anxious, nervous, scared, but I also can't wait for Saturday (week goes by so slowly.)
Love it, well because it's what the whole year comes down to. Beat Ohio....
PS, I guess root for ND (is in Michigan's best interest- at least as far as next year goes.) Break that SEC streak. Anyone in the south (I'm in Atlanta for the week) will back me up right?
November 19th, 2012 at 2:24 PM ^
The week does go by slowly. Thankfully the Game, similar to last year, falls on Thanksgiving Weekend as I think once I get out work on Wednesday, the Game will come pretty quickly.
I cannot tell you how many times I keep going on youtube and checking to see if there are any hype videos uploaded for the game.

The SEC has won the last six national championships, I can absolutely stomach one more if it means Notre Dame doesn't win it. ROLL TIDE
November 19th, 2012 at 2:15 PM ^
Justingoblue: any chance you could retitle this the "everything but expansion posbang thread"? It's either a posbang or day-drinking on a Monday for me.
Lunch for me: deluxe grilled cheese. Grilled cheese is the greatest stuff on earth. Four-cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, parmesean, provalone) with roast beef, onions, garlic, and a couple slices of bacon because obviously. It's even better on sourdough bread (which I didn't have in the house, unfortunately). I highly recommend it.
Also, I still think it's possible for Oregon to have an ourside shot at the MNC. If they win in convincing fashion these last two weeks, I think they'll probably be ranked ahead of the Bama-UGA loser, and it's entirely possible that Florida loses to FSU. Then of course we need Purpleface to lose at USC. I'm rooting for that scenario, not because it's the most likely, but because I can't stand to root for anything else.

Took those two seconds out of my life just for you, ChopBlock. Hope you appreciate all the effort.
November 19th, 2012 at 2:23 PM ^
Very much so, thank you. Your check's in the mail.
November 19th, 2012 at 4:08 PM ^
I agree that grilled cheese is the greatest stuff on earth. I once made one for breakfast that was bacon, fried egg, and cheese on cheesy garlic texas toast (cheese side in). Your deluxe one sounds excellent, I must try.
My lunch was Taco Bell. The Cheesy Gordita Crunch was my favorite thing on the menu to begin with, but then my buddy let me know that you can get one with the inner hard taco shell replaced with a Dorito taco shell. Now that's a good lung meat treat right there.
November 19th, 2012 at 4:30 PM ^
One great thing about Ohio: Melt Bar and Grilled. The best grilled cheese sandwiches you can get anywhere.
November 19th, 2012 at 7:56 PM ^
I actually made that exact same thing on Sunday morning, except I cooked up some mild sausage and threw it on the sandwich as well. It was absolutely phenomenal.
You can also make hobo-pie style grilled cheeses, with pizza sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, and whatever other toppings you like.

I actually had my Thanksgiving Preview dinner last night, where I test out the manner in which I intend to prepare the turkey on some Meijer-purchased turkey tenderloins. I elected to go with Provencal style, and did asparagus and roasted red potatoes as a side along with a gravy of my own design. Yes, there are leftovers and it did get good reviews, so a far more grandiose version of this will be in the works basically Friday and Saturday (my wife actually works on Thursday, so Thanksgiving will actually be more akin to what it was in A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, since my kids like popcorn and toast), as this year, the family is my house and they can all sit there and eat while I watch The Game. That being said, BEAT OHIO!
November 19th, 2012 at 2:30 PM ^
I know they don't exactly go with the theme of your dinner, but you can't deny that they are awesome. I will be making pulled pork and green bean casserole for Thanksgiving. Like you, my girlfriend/fiancee/wife are all working on Thursday. The house is already clean, so I will be watching football and eating all day. I would kill for some Cottage Inn.
November 19th, 2012 at 2:37 PM ^
We actually make little pizzas with them and serve them as appetizers at Thanksgiving, but even plain, they are great. I actually make them with dinners throughout the week because my kids enjoy them immensely. The Pillsbury Grands biscuits are what I use on top of my Shepherd's Pie sometimes. They are great as well.
November 19th, 2012 at 2:39 PM ^
I've never done Sheperd's Pie with them, but it sounds awesome. I usually start Thanksgiving out by making some homemade drop biscuits with butter and homemade raspberry jam. While the ungrateful bastards are eating those, I can get to work on the other stuff.
November 19th, 2012 at 3:12 PM ^
we had crescent rolls fresh from the tube last night with our slow-cooked pot roast. It's official - we've become my grandparents.
Next, I write a check for $7 for someone's birthday.

Another reason why the timing of this is ridiculous. I should be thinking about how much I hate Urban Meyer. Instead all I can think about is how much I hate Jim Delany.
