George Morales
When I read that Tom Pomarico was battling for the long-snapper starting position, I wondered what happened to George Morales. I subsequently navigated to Mgoblue to view George's profile. To my pleasant surprise, Mgoblue has updated their roster photos (incoming freshmen included). This is what I found:

Holy cow! He must have lost over 100 lbs! I guess it is possible to go overboard on the Barwis plan. No wonder he is not in contention for the starting job.

I just sort of assumed that Morales graduated and I missed it. So, yeah, good question, why are we looking for a long snapper. Is Morales not doing very well or is there something else?

Did you look at the picture? The dude looks like he weighs, you know... a normal human amount now. A skinny normal human, even. Not a football player amount.

long snappers aren't always the biggest guys. sean griffin wasn't the size of a regular OL.

Does college have the same rules as the NFL where you can't hit the long snapper? If so I imagine it's not AS big of a problem. He might still want to bulk up a bit.

The rule is (was?) that you can't hit the snapper for 1 second after he snaps the ball, in order for him to have enough time to get his head up. This usually means that the receiving team has to assign a 2nd level guy to block the LS off the line.
