Submitted by Blazefire on

I've had two double ardmore scotchets (smokey) and a couple double rum & cokes. I'm drunk off my ass. What are you drinking. WHOO!!

Bush, that's not even beer.  Way too watered down.  Miller lite I can respect.  Even a Bud.  One must not drink to simply get drunk, okay, that's a stretch.  But seriously, pick a more respectable beer.

Trying this collaboration brew from Alpine and New Belgium Brewing called Super IPA. Since MGoBrewMom raves about Alpine, and with an avatar like that she knows what she's talking about when it comes to beer, I thought I'd pick it up. And wow, this is GOOD. Too bad ive never seen any actual Apline brews around here,

The description on the side of the bottle litteraly says something like "consider yourself lucky that you've found a Alpine brew ouside SD."  I actually purchased it down at Total Wine here in the San Fernando Valley (suburb of Los Angeles) after about 30 minutes of searching for an Alpine brew.

Wow though, If you hold Alpine brews higher han Pliney. This only increases my curiosity.

Just cheap pinot noir (Turning Leaf 2010 it is actually very delicious for the $) for me tonight... and a couple of Mexican beers (Tecate) too.  I had to give up my LA meds temporarily due to piss testing for employment. ;(

I always liked it, then we went to Ireland last December. Now I can't get enough. Problem is, its sooooo much different over there. Especially in Dublin. You wouldn't believe it til you tried it, but its a totally different animal in the states. The closest facsimile I've found here is the widget can, believe it or not.

The tour at St. James' Gate is pretty cool. Super touristy but not bad. At the end, everybody gets a pint at the gravity bar at the top floor of the building. 360 degree views over all of Dublin. Seriously though, I had it for breakfast over there. Everybody does! Not only does a keg last days here where there it lasts only hours, but they send reps all over the country to make sure pubs have their poop in order. Oh, and probably the biggest thing; they use nitrogen as an initiator to get the head right. I don't know a bar in the states that peddles enough Guinness to bother with nitrogen; they just pressurize it the same as any other beer. When its right though, the head is about as thick as whipped cream and ten times more delicious.

Its funny you mention it though; I just saw an ad last week for 6 nights/7 days with airfare, ridiculously nice hotel room (I know, we stayed there) and rental car for less than $700 a person. It is on the other side of the island from Dublin, but the Guinness is just as good and the island really isn't that far across if you want to take the drive...

kind of a big deal

An Evan Williams single barrel bourbon special from Binny's (yea, if you're from Chicagoland you know the glory that is binny's), and after that, everything in the fridge.

Only question, is what succulent meat do I pull from the freezer to grill tomorrow? Decisions, decisions....

My drinks were several heinekens and coronas. I drank them at the Saints/Jaguars preseason game. Not sure if it made it on TV, but Chad Henne did a pretty good job of moving the ball down the field. However, at one point he threw an interception (subsequently overruled), and then out of frustration fought with a Saints defensive lineman.

Going to get a few hours of sleep before tomorrows event. If anyone in the Chicagoland area is free tomorrow morning, the Blackhawks autism benefit is at Seven Bridges Ice Arena is Woodridge. I will be skating in the 10:50 game, so come out and see some hockey and support a great cause.
