Woodley gives $60k to Saginaw Schools for athletics.
The title pretty much says it all. I love seeing Michigan athletes contribute in their community. Nice job, #56!

Couldnt be more proud.... The 'pay-to play' fees are getting pretty out of control, and I know families that have multiple kids who really, really struggle to afford it...
Way to go Woodley...

Saginaw needs all the money it can get. Hopefully this helps keep kids off the street.

We live in Midland, a few miles away from Saginaw. Our daughter is entering 9th grade and has pay to play fees for her swimming this fall. Last night I said to my wife, "We are so fortunate to be able to afford these fees. It is awful that there are kids that won't participate in sports because if them."
Rather than just think about it, Woodley took action. What a great guy. He has been coming back to Saginaw and doing a free football camp/cliic for years as well as lots of other activity supporting his hometown.
Makes me very proud.

hope it goes to reducing pay to play fees for football and not to hiring 2 new girls lacrosse coaches or some crap like that

Because clearly girls are less needy and less deserving. Well thought out statement.

It's always nice when people give of themselves to charities of any sort and $60,000.00 is a lot of money. Charles Woodson is often giving money to charities as well which is awesome.

Although I thinks it's great gesture by Woodley and he deserves the praise, I'm kind of stunned to hear that public schools are charging children to play sports.

Saginaw schools, my employer, has been in serious debt for quite some time. They just had a plan approved by the state to cut over $13 million in one year. Teachers haven't had raises in 2 years, and this year was going to be the first in district history with pay to play, as part of that plan. This move by Woodley is incredible. Not only he, but also Jason Richardson both give back a great deal to kids in this district.
Sadly, Charles Rogers isn't giving much back.....

When I was in elementary school, we had to buy our own workbooks (not the textbook, but the homework books). Some kids couldn't afford it, so we had lots of fundraisers.
Pay-to-play is probably going to be the new norm since schools can't afford the basics anymore.
