Now that NBC allows us to see everything live online, I have reversed my position on their tape delay procedure. I don't mind it, and it does allow me to see a lot of the best stuff in the evening when I have time. I've watched most of the major swim events live and again in prime time.
Incrementally better than Beijing, way better than Athens, and WAAAY better than Sydney.
I'm finding NBC pretty freaking annoying. I just got back from London (cool story bro!) where I got to see a couple of events in person, good live coverage on the BBC, and had the ability to watch any event live on BBC online. I get back here and 1) BBC online is blocked and 2) Verizon FiOS apparently wants $50 so that I can watch NBC's streaming coverage. I was going to watch the 100 meter on tape delay, but accidentally saw the result. So, I thought I'd come over here and complain.
The website isn't very useful if you don't cable...
Why would a network tape delay a significant race that's over and done with in just over ten seconds when the Indy 500, Kentucky Derby, Belmont, and Preakness are always broadcast live and never on tape delay? NBC could have broken away from horsey jumping for all of a minute or less to cover the race so that people could watch on a larger screen instead of a small laptop screen like mine.

I really hate seeing political ads when I'm trying to watch what is supposed to be an apolitical event (the Olympics). I don't care which party is running them - it's just obnoxious.
