There's something about the title of series that left me expecting a full P5 Draftageddon...

07/11/2017 - 12:17pm I Never Pass on a Humblebrag

Recently acquired a BMW M240ix. It's no Hellcat or even a Camaro, but it's got ~350 hp and ~370 ft-lb torque. 0-60 in 4.2, tops out at 161 mph. It's the biggest tease to gun it and reach the legal limit after only a couple seconds. Talk about a first world problem. Lesson learned: get a slightly slower car that I don't need to track to truly enjoy.

06/27/2017 - 9:45am An All-Time Grantland Article

Let's not forget this all-time great article from Grantland:…

I'm gonna fuckin eat you, homie.

06/21/2017 - 3:08pm We we we so excited.

We so excited.

05/22/2017 - 2:53pm Not sure about that post and

Not sure about that post and what the rules are for 'advertisements' or 'promotions' but there was a footnote that said Mo wouldn't appear on the actual cover, that cover was simply an example.

05/14/2017 - 11:09pm I don't know what you're

I don't know what you're talking about, these are immaculate. Where can I buy these prints?

05/10/2017 - 9:28pm Who's the other Michigan team

Who's the other Michigan team that's never won a B1G championship?

05/09/2017 - 11:05am It's just a dominance thing

He knows they're biologically incompatible, but it's a part of 'Florida Man' instincts to set the beer down and put nature in its place.

05/04/2017 - 3:41pm Are Non-Revenue Sports Allowed?

Touching the Void is a phenomenal book, not too dissimilar from Into Thin Air. Boys in the Boat has also gotten pretty good reviews, it's on my list. Iron War is an interesting one about Iron Man triathletes with some science-y stuff in the middle that's a little out of place.

05/02/2017 - 5:19pm Keep up God's work

These posts are great, thanks for digging this stuff up!

03/27/2017 - 1:51pm But has the improvement

But has the improvement already happened? The way I read it, the improvement may happen at any point prior to the end of the head coach's third year.

03/27/2017 - 1:11pm To be fair...

By his logic, Mel had connections to Michigan and therefore might come.

03/23/2017 - 10:18am His story checks out...

I was able to stream the Orange Bowl over gogo in-flight wifi so it can be done. Whether we got lucky or not is another question though.

03/20/2017 - 12:36pm Great!

I'm happy you're happy.

03/20/2017 - 12:10pm Bless you, these are my favorite threads

I was in Portland yesterday and I literally just googled University of Michigan Alumni Portland, found their Facebook page, and saw an game-watching event they had set up.

To answer your question: Check with the Facebook group, but I went to the Thirsty Lion and there was a fair number of fellow fans there.

This is like seeing a car stalled on the tracks and you can hear a train coming around bend. OP, I would strongly recommend a new title.

While I'm not a manly man, I would like to thank OP for the edit. It damn near brought a smile to my face. When will we get a weekly offseason snowflake thread though?

03/02/2017 - 11:08am Preach Brother

Agreed, there's no reason for this. I know WD still a young'n figuring life out so you gotta take the bad with all the good he contributes to the board, but I hope he cuts back on these petty sorts of commentary in the future. Just isn't a good look.

02/28/2017 - 5:47pm VPN

All you need to change your location is a VPN, google can find you a nice free one if you need it.

01/30/2017 - 3:59pm There's a link in The Ringer

There's a link in The Ringer article to a tweet by @mgoblog that requests the impeachment of President Trump in response to another tweet sharing the news of the executive order that replaced the Joint Chiefs of Staff (and maybe someone else?) with Steve Bannon on the National Security Council.

01/24/2017 - 3:14pm If there's one thing this

If there's one thing this board does well, it's validating OP's feelings.

These 9ish pm starts have been going on for years. I assume (with absolutely no basis) that it's a network decision. It's happened with ESPN too, I'm sure they have some logic behind the decision to do 7/9 ET doubleheaders rather than 6/8 or 5/7.

04/26/2016 - 11:36am Oh boy... I learned how to

Oh boy... I learned how to drive on a car with daytime running lights (mid-00s Accord) and it never really occurred to me that there was an alternative. Of course there was and I had it in my 98 Civic. I was so used to flicking the knob one notch to turn on my lights that I just assumed that's how I turned on my headlights and my high beams. So naive. People would flash their high beams at me and I would flash 'mine' back. Must have been confusing. So there I was, driving home after asking a girl to homecoming (she said no). As soon as the car in front of me turned into a neighborhood, I turned on my 'high beams' and the cop behind me turned on her lights. She had seen me driving with my parking lights on and believed I knew what I was doing because I turned on my lights as soon as she pulled up behind me. However, my tears, my inability to find my insurance and registration, and the fact that I lived a half mile away convinced I was just an idiot. She showed me how to operate my lights and let me off with a warning. All those complaints to my dad about dim lights finally made sense to him. The Michigan Difference™

04/24/2013 - 3:04pm Avoiding embarrassment?

Avoiding embarrassment? Doesn't do anything to make Michigan look good? This is the wrong blog to post this in, but its just a student section at a football game. You're not going to have to deal with coworkers coming up to you on Monday saying "Hey Mr. Butterfield, you see the game on Saturday? Student section wasn't even full at kickoff! You should be ashamed of  that degree you have hanging on your wall." I hope that doesn't actually happen, but if it does you'll still be able to say gtfo of my office. In all seriousness though, I really don't understand the embarrassment reason, please explain.

04/23/2013 - 8:20pm There were probably 100-150

There were probably 100-150 people who spent the night in line, I got there at 8 am and was ~300. Hard to compare basketball to football since there isn't anything equivalent to the bleachers though.

04/22/2013 - 8:50pm You're right, it probably

You're right, it probably won't be a MAJOR issue outside of Ohio and ND, I just can't imagine it will be a smooth transition. I guess I'll have to take solace in the fact that I got four years of Mary Sue, and none of those underclassmen can say that.

04/22/2013 - 7:36pm You could always go to games

You could always go to games with friends. That's why they let you make groups.

04/22/2013 - 7:30pm Spoiled is a poor word to

Spoiled is a poor word to choose. This is not out of some false hope that I would be in the first row. I just think that this is not going to be something that works from the get-go and as a senior I will not be pleased by unforeseen things throw a wrench in my final season of football. My group of friends doesn't always pregame together, but we still got to sit next to each other, until now.

First world problems though, I just want a reasonable seat without having to waste a perfectly good morning in line.

I also can't imagine getting 15,000 students into the same entrance is going to be easy, if that's how they plan to do it.

04/22/2013 - 7:08pm I hate our athletic

I hate our athletic department. Of all the years why did you have to wait for my last to do this? GA chaos has and always will be the worst part of basketball games for me and now football is ruined too. I was supposed to get good seats this year too. I just don't understand how they couldn't do some sort of rolling start-up so that seniors aren't screwed over as they currently are.

07/06/2012 - 4:13pm Peter Sagan

Torch cannot be passed if Cavendish is around to pass it. He was in the Schleck group with Boson Hagen if I'm not mistaken. But Sagan's been a beast so he could beat Cavendish eventually.

07/02/2012 - 2:22pm The "Gilbert Arenas" Rule, as

The "Gilbert Arenas" Rule, as part of the new CBA, is the loophole here.

You can read about it here if you want:

(Focusing on the third paragraph)

"The second-year salary in such an offer sheet is limited to the standard 4.5% raise. The third-year salary can jump considerably -- it is allowed to be as high as it would have been had the first-year salary not been limited by this rule to the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception."

As I understand it, this is only for RFAs, specifically former second round picks that have 1 or 2 seasons under their belts.

07/02/2012 - 11:59am That Osik deal is nearly as

That Osik deal is nearly as bad as Hibbert's.

First 2 years: $5 million (max midlevel exception for 2nd rounder coming off his second season)

Third year: $14.9 million (max possible salary)
