OT: Chance Stewart commits to Wisconsin

Submitted by detrocks on

According to Steve Wilfong, Chance Stewart just committed to Wisconsin.  Stewart is a four-star quarterback from Sturgis (MI) in the 2014 class.     It appeared that he was one of the guys in the running for a Michigan offer along with Kizer, Key, Henderson and others.

No offense but this is terrible logic. There is no reasonable argument to say signing 3/4 stars is better than signing 4/5 stars. Yeah maybe we had a log jam in the 90s, so what? At that point it comes down to the coaches and how they handle the situation, not the plethora of 5* gunslinging QBs we have on the sidelines

the coach now??  He was a offense guru coach in high school (coached Mitch Mustain). Already aware what he did in Auburn with Newton. Seeing Chance with the offer from Gus I'm going out on a limb and say Chance shall be a highly touted prospect. time will tell.

Good luck to Stewart. Personally I am glad the coaches are taking their time on the class of 2014 quarterbacks. Stewart is going to be a decent QB, but I think there are some better options out there for Michigan.

I don't think we should pull a BUCKEYE and just sit here assuming that if UM wants him and offers him he'll all of a sudden switch.  This picture shows me that he was really sold on Wisconsin and wants to go there, good for him.

Even in UM offered now I'm not sure he'd consider their offer for long.

DG played in exactly 1 game too mant to qualify for a RS. If the NCAA follows their rules, he won't get one. I expect them to follow thier rules.

I agree with those posting: The highest rated, the better. The more, the merrier.

Brady/Henson was a nice problem to have.

I don't see the philosphy hurting USC, which has become QB U. for the memorable past.

I'm hoping for Michigan becoming a factory for the NFL cornerstones: QB, LT, RB, WR.

In the mean time, I'll settle for the evolving LB U!

until their JUNIOR YEAR to commit.   Is it really that bad for coaches to want you to have at least played a few games in your JUNIOR YEAR to evaluate you?

Maybe the coaches said they were going to pursue another quarterback and Stewart wanted to reserve his spot.  Maybe he just fell in love with Wisconsin.  Maybe he didn't get a good vibe from the Michigan coaches.

You don't seem to know what his motivations were, so it's odd that you would project your reasons onto him.

It's really gonna piss me off if DG doesn't get his redshirt.  I won't be pissed at the NCAA though, if they truly are following their rules.  I'll be pissed at RR for leveraging the future.  I don't want to go back and relive those days, but Gardner was not playing b/c of injuries, he was playing just to f'in play, right?  What a waste.

Gotta remember that he has no Class A championship caliber team around him, so there won't be a blazing highlight reel the first three games of the season. Sturgis is class B.

With his O LIne, he will be playing more from the shotgun as well to give him more time. Sturgis has MAYBE 26-28 kids on the Varsity squad this season - and no JV team, so half of those kids will be incoming sophomores playing at the Varsity level for the first time.Yeoowww.

Michigan has been aware of him forever and he has spent time there with the coaches. I have absolutely no doubt that he wanted and would have jumped at a Michigan offer, but it looks like he knew he probably wasn't going to get one if it hadn't happened yet. How can you blame a kid in his situation for jumping at the opportunity to play QB anywhere in the Big 10, let alone Wisconsin where he'll finally get a line big enough to give him his 3 seconds in the pocket to set up and throw the ball.

Good luck to him except when he plays us.
