OT: South Carolina former HC Jim Carlen dies
Former WVU, Texas Tech and South Carolina HC Jim Carlen passed away today.
Carlen is known for a couple of things:
1. Coaching South Carolina's only Heisman Trophy winner
2. Coaching South Carolina football to arguably it's biggest road win in school history by beating then Big Ten and Rose Bowl champion Michigan, 17-14 in Ann Arbor. First time Michigan lost two non-conference games since 1967.
Here are some clips (be patient for Michigan ones):

3. Implementing identical same helmet designs at Texas Tech (1974) and South Carolina (while helmets, triple stripes, black and scarlet colors) and star shaped helmet awards.
My wife is a Gamecock (heh heh "cock") and every time we go back to Columbia to visit, I get stories from her grandpa about George Rogers and Carlen. He really put them on the map until Holtz ruined it. He was really the Don Canham of USC. He did a ton for that program.
Ha ha my wife is also. I never thought I'd watch so much SEC football in my life as I do now. It's amazing to me how much So Car. is on national TV
I actually like it *gasp*...
Yeah we do, southeast Mich. I find myself pulling so hard for them, most times it just ended in disapointment because of Stephen Garcia's brain freezes.
Do you live in Michigan then? Not many Gamecock alums around here.
May want to include "former" in the title b/c I was all like wahh isnt Spurrier the HC @ South Carolina.
