Yeah, when he was with us for that 1-2 year period (wasn't it 2005-2007?), all I ever heard was negativity coming from the locker room about him. Also, his ability to produce waned, and he was constantly nagged by injuries. Bertuzzi needs to retire, he doesn't need a team to sign him. Okay Detroit, nice joke, one player from the past is enough.

Where did you hear the negative locker room reports from? If thats true then I might be a little leery, but he definitely should not retire just yet. He had a solid year last year with Calgary. He had 15 goals, 29 assists for 44 points in 66 games. He also had 74 penalty minutes to back that up. I think he brings toughness to a Detroit team that lacks some of that. He would be a perfect 3rd line player IMO and would allow Abdelkader to stay in Grand Rapids and further develop as a player. I see the lines being like this: Datsyuk Zetterberg Cleary Filppula Franzen Holmstrom Eaves Leino Bertuzzi Helm Draper Williams Matlby Abdelkader *Helm, Williams and my 3rd line would be switched up a lot and a couple of those players would play on the 1st two lines on given nights. That, and I don't know what to do with Holmstrom because its obvious he is getting old.

ARGH THIS DOES NOT COMPUTE Bertuzzi was picked up at the trade deadline during the 2006-2007 season. He was injured at the time and was virtually worthless when he did play. I know he played the most of last season for Calgary (scoring 44 points in 66 games) but I've never liked the guy and had a hard time rooting for him in a Wings jersey.

I actually do not mind this. Detroit needs some more tough guys and Bertuzzi has that and some very good skills too. Bring him on board at the right price. What does Detroit lack? Tougness, size, grit and North Americans...Bertuzzi covers all of that.

I think that we showed some good toughness during the playoffs this last season. Instead of bringing in a goon like Bertuzzi, lets just continue to rely on the emerging Helm. While he doesn't have great size, he is a hit machine and a physical presence everytime he steps on the ice while maintaining self-control and not taking useless penalties (a-la-bertuzzi).

I agree and disagree at the same time. I think we did displayed some good toughness with Helm acting as a wrecking ball, but I think we need more. We don't have an intimidating grind line, nor power forward who can fight, score, and hit. Thats all I'm saying. That, and for some reason I am obsessed with Detroit getting more North Americans on their roster who actually help out the team. Maltby and Draper are all but washed up, so that leaves Cleary and Osgood...and one is a goalie (sorry Brad Stuart). I'm definitely picky with the Wings like most of the fan base.
