Hockey likely to lose at least one defenseman.
Thunderclouds for the hockey team. We appear to be almost certain to lose at least one of our star incoming defensemen to the OHL. Yostbuilt's twitter feed is a great read if you want to get really depressed. Trouba is being courted by Kitchener, and Plymouth is ready to pluck Carrick if Trouba doesn't go.
I've been paying scant attention: Much of the bad stuff comes from Matt Slovin's feed, so you can just skip straight to that. Yostbuilt gets a HT, though.
my hatred for the OHL springs anew
Its okay we have the future Hobey Baker winner in AJ Treais capitaining us to the 'ship.
nothing would keep him from attending UM in the fall for at least one season... damn free will and the right to change your mind!
Insert sad panda...
It kind of sounds like Trouba, PDG, and Carrick are all being somewhat evasive or wishy-washy because I'm hearing very different things about all three. Specifically both Trouba and PDG have said that they would absolutely be back to Michigan but there's rumblings on both that they're 50/50 to the OHL
So either OHL people are being extremely hopeful or those guys aren't telling everyone the same things
One thing I learned while writing for Michigan Hockey: never trust an OHL source when it comes to NCAA commits. Slovin is going to learn this too.
That's why I didn't post on here when I saw it. They seem to think they have an inside track on every big prospect, so until I see something more than a statement from an anonymous source, I don't buy it.
If he was going to switch, why keep saying he wanted to come here?
I think of the OHL the same way I think of the SEC: they're arrogant enough to assume that every prospect will automatically want to play there, and they're right often enough to keep up the attitude.
My experience has taught me to be wary of anonymous sources; it has also taught me that Michigan has lost a championship hockey team's worth of talent early. I will be delighted if everyone arrives on campus and skates in the fall; I won't be shocked in the least if one of PDG, Carrick, or Trouba go. Disappointed? Absolutely. Surprised? Not at all.
The one thing we have going for us is that none of them appear to be in academic peril; in my opinion the pressure of school scares some people into what would otherwise be poor decisions.
We do this every year, I hate the OHL.
Why does Michigan Hockey cause so much pain?
The OHL needs to back off
A lot of buzz around him and it's all good stuff. Would love to see him help lead us to a NCAA title! We are long overdue!
