New 2015 Offer: RB Damien Harris
Michigan has offered 2015 RB Damien Harris from Madison Southern HS in Berea, Kentucky per Allen Trieu
When he turns it up field, he's really fast. He makes all the other players look slow.
Is Michigan his first offer?
Go Blue!
Football and basketball are quickly moving toward hockey timeframes. We'll soon be hearing about schools having their classes mostly filled out before the kids even start their junior year of high school
double entendre
lol
I can't possibly read "he cuts like OJ Simpson" as a compliment, given later developments involving knives...
He's definetely explosive and has some great size/power for such a young kid but what really stood out to me in that film is how much I hate that offense. I HATE that short motion dive play with a burning fiery passion. As a vasrsity HS OC it makes my eyes bleed watching plays like that, the motion isn't far enough to throw anybody off or make the D show their hand at all and, more importantly, it takes away so much momentum for the wing to change directions like that right before the handoff. Sorry but it bothers me.
RB is one of the few areas where an early offer is completely okay. If the kid can produce like he has been against good varsity HS talent, then even if he doesn't develop at ALL, he's at worst a high three star. He adds two inches, 3 tenths on his 40 time and some solid football experience and you're looking at a borderline five-star no problem.
It's not a linebacker where you're hoping he grows or a safety where you're hoping he doesn't grow and lose mobility. He's only going to get bigger, stronger and faster, and he doesn't really need to to be at the very least an acceptable recruit.
Then if he can shave off 3 tenths, I'd say he has a great shot at being a 5-star.
Michigan's latest offer is Stephen "Skippy" Heegan. Heegan is a 4'8", 72 pounder who is considered a consensus 5 star RB from Parma, Ohio. Skp is setting Gremlin league records for 7-8 year olds and plans to major in spelling. Skippy has said he plans to take his visits (if his parents can give him a ride) this summer unless his class trip to Cedar Point is finalized.
Question for anybody that may know. Will Shane Morris be throwing at the Michigan camp again tomorrow?
He looks like a special runner. With that ability and size as a Fr, he is going to be a beast by the time he gets to college.
He will also always remember the first big time program to offer him. Coach Hoke and his staff seem to be making an effort to identify key prospects at a very young age.
I just watched the film - dude's fast, no doubt about it. The combination of speed and size he has is great for any HS player, but incredible for a freshman.
You can't take much else from the film, though, because the level of competition is very low. Kentucky has very little college level talent as it is (four 4-stars over the last two years) and he's from a rural area outside of Lexington, so even for KY standards he's not playing against good teams. It would be like a Michigan playing for Alpena looking like a star.
Now, that doesn't take away from his talent, which he obviously has. It would be nice to see his school schedule some of the Louisville or Northern Kentucky schools to see how he fares.
I'm sure we'll learn the most about him from the camp circuit.
Enough with these superstar runningbacks until we sign one. Fitz will last 2 years and then one our 6 or so recruits will emerge for another 2 years of awesomeness.
Yea! Enough of this recruiting BS! Hoke doesn't get it!
If Michigan's getting in on the 2014 action, it seems like an offer to Campbell wouldn't be too far behind this one.
Just wondering who else went searching for when the site first mentioned Damien Harris when Brian mentioned him in today's update...
Hi from the future!
