Henne signs with Jacksonville
Per Tania Ganguli's Twitter, Chad Henne has signed with the Jags for two years. Adam Schefter confirms. Not the greatest team in the world, but it does give him an awesome chance to start thanks to a very questionable Blaine Gabbert.
As Schefter reported earlier, the Jags also signed WR Laurent Robinson (Dallas) for five years/$32.5 million. That at least gives him someone decent to throw to downfield. It'll be sad not to see Jake Long pass protecting for Henne anymore, but maybe he can be reunited with a former WR teammate like Manningham or Braylon.
An awesome chance to start, and a world class group of receivers! Just kidding. But at least he'll start.
He won't start. If things get bad, they will go to him though. Henne is a solid back up who on paper and in practice looks like a starter. For one reason or another he just doesn't seem to be able to put it all together.
but Henne has struggled to reach the highest levels at QB both at Michigan and Miami. He won few really big games at Michigan, no wins vs. TSIO, no Big Ten Titles, and won only one bowl game. He came close in some big games. But that's been his issue from day one. Hate to sound negative, but Henne does not seem destined to achieve much as an NFL QB.

Henne won a B1G championship in 2004. Boom

That was also his best year statistically. Pretty crazy.

Not that crazy. He had Braylon.
Arm punt it to Braylon Chad!
I was watching UTL last night (again) and Brent Musburger was plugging the MNF matchup between two UM QB's, Chad Henne and Tom Brady. I thought that was pretty cool.

MSU and Illinois '07 were amazing performances. Not that they necessarily count as "big" games.
I will agree with your final sentence . . . and that's about it.
that battering he applied to UF and Tebow in Orlando in Coach Carr's farewell game--you should look for it on youtube.
All the fans in Jacksonville have been clamoring for Tebow... Now they got one of the only guys that could beat him in college.

Indeed, was a rumor that Tebow would go to Jax if aforementioned occurred. Now, it appears Henne coudl be a starter.
I hope he gets a chance to start. Whether at the beginning of the season or in the middle. I still think he has the ability to be a solid starter in the NFL

Hope it works out and he can be successful there. Build a nice steady career and represent M well.

to try and wrangle a starting spot away from a young QB. I am sure Gabbert is the future but with injuries and coaches putting in the other guy a lot these days anything can happen. Good luck Chad and make the best of what is in front of you sir.

The Tebow thing could still very much happen. Denver and Jacksonville were talking about swapping their QBs so signing Chad doesnt really change that much.

Is henne's numbers are so similar to Sanchez's. Yet Sanchez has had a good team around him (and a good defense) and thus has won more. So the Sanchize gets a new deal, fawned over by the media, etc. and Henne gets crapped on constantly.

Who is who? One has more yards and TDs, but more INTs and 14 (!) more fumbles. One just got cut, one got extended.
I know Henne's potential as a starter is arguable, but I've never felt his time in Miami was a good indicator of his best effort because he rarely had a half-decent WR to throw to--either one that could actually catch or one that wouldn't throw him under the bus--plus they screwed up any consistency he could have built with that wildcat crap. I'm not saying the Jags' WR corps is any better, but hopefully a fresh start is what he needs to play his best.
If anything my comparo above highlights how much a situation has to do with QB success. Would Henne have done better in the NY pressure cooker? Would Sanchez have done as well as Henne did lining up at wideout 5 times a game?
I guess what I'm trying to say above isn't that Henne is great, but that perception became reality here. In reality Sanchez is not a better QB than Henne. But he gets praised/extended. Granted he's won a lot more, especially in the playoffs, but I think that has a lot more to do with the rest of the team than the QB.

Oh yeah, I understand, and your comparison was definitely valid. That's what happens when an overrated USC QB gets picked by a NY team and a Big Ten QB gets inconsistent playing time on a crap team like Miami.

Miami is a grossly incompetent franchise. Since Dan Marino retired, they have reminded me of the Lions when WCF was actively running the team, but with palm trees, sunshine, and no state income tax.
Getting out of Miami could end up being the best thing to happen to Henne.
And one gets to date Kate Upton while the other....well doesn't get Kate Upton
What happens when Manning goes to Denver and Tebow to the Jags?
It's a mess, and Henne's good situation turns ugly fast.
