Looks like the recruiting team isn't taking a breath as the offers keep going out!

We still have spots available? At the rate we are going we will be full by March.

Looks like the recruitment dance will begin in March!

Interesting that we offer another OG after yesterday. I guess we are light on the inside, but how many OL will we take this year?
February 19th, 2012 at 9:53 AM ^
The offers were sent out last week. So maybe they are non commitable at this point.
However, many of our current commits in this class and 2013 project to both OT and OG - so there is some flexibility.

I have never understood the point of non-commitable offers. It's like, "Hey, you can have a scholarship here but not really."
Doesn't this just come off as meaningless, at best, and disingenuous at worst?
February 19th, 2012 at 12:16 PM ^
We're graduating a lot of guys after this year, so we're probably going to take 4-5 guys.

All these offers were sent out throughout the week, and several of them have already been reported on this here blog.
February 19th, 2012 at 10:07 AM ^
Some of them were - not all.
I didn't see them on the offer board we maintain and thought they were not reported.

Agreed -- there are several good names in that bunch.

He lost in the semi's to Taco Charlton

Hicks committed to Texas, by the way.
February 19th, 2012 at 2:54 PM ^
Yep, Hicks committed to Texas. He is former teammates of Bellomy and a really good RB in a really good district. Wish he would have at least taken a trip to AA before he committed.

Thanks for the info. Would be awesome to get Isaac and maybe one more.

The big fellow can run! A speedy, big CB is just the ticket! We're on a roll, let's nab him too!
Go Blue!

and bring him to the greatest cathedral in college footballdom.

can visualize Priest running back an interception for a TD... in Southbend with TD Jesus as a backdrop?
February 19th, 2012 at 10:26 AM ^
This could go down in history as the best class ever in terms of names
February 19th, 2012 at 11:29 AM ^
When coaches make an offer, do they specify whether the offer is committable vs non-committable? How is a prospect supposed to know whether an offer is committable or not? At what point does a non-committable offer become committable?
It would be rather awkward if a coach makes a non-committable offer and a prospect accepts on the spot, only to find out that the offer was non-committable.

Does anyone have any sense as to which WR recruits have a real interest in Michigan. It's one of our biggest needs, and we've offered a lot of big names, but the only guys that I've read about who have indicated interest in U-M are Treadwell, Dukes, and (kind of) Devon Allen.
Have any of the other WR offerees made plans for visiting or otherwise shown interest (Rivals rankings)?
- Marquez North ****
- Robert Foster ****
- Damore'ea Stringfellow ****
- Uriah LeMay ****
- James Quick ****
- Marcell Ateman ****
- Sebastian Larue ****
- James Onwualu
- Zach Bradshaw
- Richard Benjamin
- Rob Wheelwright
- Kevin Gladney

James Onwualu, who ACE has interviewed a couple of times, indicated that he will visit Michigan. He wants to major in business, so I could see us shooting up for him. I'm not sure about any of the other guys. We are in good position with Dukes and Treadwell, so this shouldn't really keep you up at night.
Also, we haven't offered him, but De'Niro Laster is a WR from the Cleveland area that is visiting on Monday who could commit if we offer. We might hold on and wait to see how things unfold with other players, but Laster grew up a Michigan fan and has high interest in the Maize and Blue.
I don't think there's anything to worry about at this point.
EDIT: DGDestroys did a run through of WR prospects and our chances on Thursday: http://www.maizenbrew.com/2012/2/16/2798491/michigan--football-recruiting-2013-wr-foster-treadwell-allen-lemay-wheelwright-dukes-onwualu-quick

Did an interview with LeMay not too long ago. I would say this definintely sounds like interest:

Lots of offers / commitments for OG and OT but no centers. Am I missing something? Are centers more often created (from other OL positions), or is it common to see them recruited specifically as a center?
February 19th, 2012 at 12:05 PM ^
Many centers play guard in HS, it's really just the HS tackles that rarely end up playing that far inside. Many people think David Dawson (guard) could project to center.
February 19th, 2012 at 12:14 PM ^
Pardon my ignorance, but I never knew there was such a thing as a "non-committable" offer. What exactly makes it an offer if the recruit can't accept it? When CAN they accept it? Thanks.
February 19th, 2012 at 12:17 PM ^
I'd assume your offer becomes non-commitable - unless someone drops out (like a waitlist)
February 19th, 2012 at 12:25 PM ^
Say that in a given year Michigan offers something like 7 quarterbacks. They're clearly not going to take all 7 qbs that year. After the first guy commits, some of those offers are essentially "non-committable."
February 19th, 2012 at 12:28 PM ^
the 3 ol commits definitely affect some of the outstandings "offers" but we most certainly will take at least 5 and maybe more OLs in this class.
February 19th, 2012 at 12:30 PM ^
considering we'll also take 2 TE's.

outrageously fantastic weekend. And I have the day off tomorrow for President's Day! Guess I better save a cold beer in case Butt commits.
