Maybe if they didn't get destroyed by ND they could be in the running as well; they have no room to complain about missing out when they went into the BTCG with two losses.

How does VT even remain ranked after losing to Clemson twice? What's their next best win, Boston College?
December 4th, 2011 at 7:28 PM ^
Probably GT, which also sucks. Very surprised 2 ACC teams are in BCS.
December 4th, 2011 at 7:31 PM ^
They're really 11-1. Those extra games shouldn't count against you, right?
December 4th, 2011 at 7:25 PM ^
not that im complaining, but, i would have liked to have faced a better opponent. dont really care about losing a bowl game this yr. just wanna see what we have coming back next yr on defense.
December 4th, 2011 at 7:26 PM ^
They have one really nice win, a 38-0 thrashing against UVA and a decent win over UNC. Other than that, they haven't looked overly impressive. Michigan will be favored.
Still would have preferred K-State.

Would have liked to have seen Va Tech play Clemson in the Orange Bowl

Not true unless you "BKFinest" it. But really I hope it is true because that would be sweet.
December 4th, 2011 at 7:42 PM ^
I want to play against a good team to get prepared for Bama next year. I know most of you want bcs bowl and maybe even an easier game but i don't think that benefits this team for next year very much.
December 4th, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
the best way to prepare for bama is by beating the crap out of an overrated opponent and giving next years d-line a chance to play in a big game atmosphere. Not to say this'll happen.
December 4th, 2011 at 8:24 PM ^
I think that's not going to help us at all. We play in big games with 115 thousand people already.

GO BLUUUUUEEEEEE
December 4th, 2011 at 7:45 PM ^
With my second favorite team being an ACC school (my undergrad alma mater), I've watched for more ACC football than any rational person should. If this is true, I feel supremely confident about Michigan's chances. Completely unimpressed with Va Tech, and they are always a very different team when they're away from the friendly confines and soothing sounds of Enter Sandman in Blacksburg.
December 4th, 2011 at 7:46 PM ^
I'm not sure I buy this happening, but we'll see. The computers hate VA Tech and the coaches rated them #17.
Edit: Oops, I meant the AP poll rated them #17. The coaches have them at #11. Cue conspiracy theory.

Joke I just read on TheSabre:
What do Virginia Tech and Equal have in common? Neither belongs in the Sugar Bowl.
(sorry ixcuincle. too good not to pass on. For the record, I'm not sure who does if VT doesn't. Really, of the other available choices, the only other one I'd have liked playing was K-State.)
December 4th, 2011 at 8:01 PM ^
It's okay, I don't think they belong there either. Was very surprised when I found out.
Hopefully it's a good game
December 4th, 2011 at 7:56 PM ^
What the heck? This wasnt supposed to happen. All that speculation in all those previous threads were a complete waste of time. Oh well, as Hoke would say, BEAT VIRGINIA
December 4th, 2011 at 7:57 PM ^
SWEEEET BRING ON THE HOKIES!!! Wait isn't that us?
December 4th, 2011 at 8:02 PM ^
I've been to a few ACC games this year. They aren't very good out here (although they think they are). VT could only beat Duke 14-10. Duke.
That is all.

Get ready for some devoted nerds to do a lot of this in the next 30 days.

Works for me. Go Blue!

Congrats to you guys on the Sugar Bowl. I think you should be able to handle the frauds of VT pretty easily. Hell of a turn around with Hoke in there. I'll be rooting for you and the rest of the B1G.

Being that I'm originally from VA, I've got to say I'm somewhat conflicted on whether or not I should gloat to all of my former classmates who attended Va Tech when UM crushes the Hokies. That being said Greg Mattison vs Bud Foster should be a defensive chess match. However I think Denard and Fitz are going to go gangbusters on them.
P.S. If you want to piss of a Tech fan, just bring up James Madison (It's Tech's version of the Horror)

Actual quote from RCMB:
"Yes, 3-4 years ago this would've pissed me off but I honestly have no emotions about it now. I'll watch but not any more than any regular non-MSU game, and I'll obviously root against UM (along with Wiscy, f the rest of the Big Ten they do nothing but screw us year in and year out). Sucks but bowls' importance are vastly overstated. They're all cash-grab exhibitions for the fans and advertisers.
Bring on basketball season, I'm content with our Big Ten Championship in football. (Theoretically, the Big Ten Championship is only really for tiebreakers in case the top 2 teams are from opposite divisions and didn't play, therefore the fact that we went 7-1, with a win over Wisc, while Wisc only went 6-2, gives us the actual B10 Championship, we just won the wrong MSU-Wisc matchup)"
They are freaking out! The idiots! http://michiganstate.247sports.com/Board/93/Sign-in-here-if-you-dont-GAF-about-scUM-getting-a-BCS-5997677/1

He's not quite correct. Acutally UM won this year's B1G championship. They divisional title is really only for people who win early, but we won our last three games including a game that MSU lost to pretty badly this year, so we are actual winners.

I have a pair of tickets section 132 row 13 that I am selling. email me at [email protected].

I love the match up as the Hokies are actually my #2 team (born in Detroit grew up an hour from Blacksburg). I think a lot of people are selling VaTech a bit short. I tell you what...Wilson is a hell of a RB. Our D will need to show up, fill these cut-back lanes and gang tackle. The guy is shifty. Logan Thomas has a good arm and definitely can hurt us with his mobility. Throw in that he is Megatron sized and I feel he is a bigger threat than B Miler was.
Now, the vaunted Va Tech is down this year and I think they will have some serious issues trying to contain Denard and Fitz. I think we'll see a good game with UM coming out on top. It will be a great opportunity to roll into next season's Bama game.
