And Kenny Allen ,the punter, is a preferred walk-on.

But how is Danny Cotter on this list? Dude looks TINY for a TE.
December 1st, 2011 at 11:11 AM ^
Probably because he's a WR, or split end.
December 1st, 2011 at 11:13 AM ^
Now I just look stupid. But why call them an end? Granted I don't follow HS that much but I was confused by that.

cotter was most definitely a wide out. he also benefited from having a very solid qb throwing him the ball. I think the decision to include him on this list is based on stats alone

Back in the old days, that's what they were called. But regardless, the Detroit News has been calling tight ends and wide receivers "ends" on the Dream Team for as long as I can remember.

He seemed to have a Wisconsin early offer and Michigan was looking at him before Hoke got here. I checked Rivals and he is 3 stars but with no offers. He is 6'4 and almost 300 pounds.

I have an idea of what has gone on with Latta, but I'd rather not share it. However, he didn't go to camps this summer because of injury, and that may have stalled his recruitment.
Latta does have nice size, but his film isn't all that impressive. I thought the Wisconsin offer was fishy, and it seems like the offer was pulled or never existed in the first place. He doesn't look like a high FBS prospect to me. He looks like a MAC kid.

Interesting, no Funchess or RJS (or Burbridge).
December 1st, 2011 at 11:11 AM ^
How is RJS and Burbridge (especially Burbridge best player in state) not on this list?
I mean REALLY!?
December 1st, 2011 at 11:27 AM ^
These awards are generally for who had the best season, not who the best player is. I'm not sure what Burbridge's stats were, but I'm guessing there were other guys in the state who had better stats this year.
December 1st, 2011 at 11:27 AM ^
It's probably because these kind of things are based on high school stats instead of recruiting rankings/upside at the next level.
December 1st, 2011 at 11:30 AM ^
But still he's the best player in the state I think by the same newspaper.

Congrats to your brother, OP.

Kind of an awkward picture of Cooper Rush, with the piece of grass stuck to the side of his face. You'd think they would have let him know to brush it off or at least photoshoped it out.

I like the kid from De La Salle's goofy senior picture. So great.
December 1st, 2011 at 11:36 AM ^
Looks like they shorted Drake Johnson 1,000 yards.
December 1st, 2011 at 12:19 PM ^
They shorted him 5,000 yards ... He runs so damn fast and for so many yards that they quit keeping track at 1,800 yards in the 3rd game

"Mario is the most dominant defensive tackle we've ever had," coach John Herrington said.
FHH is one of the best HSFB programs in Michigan, and has been for a long time. Herrington is a legend, so that's damn impressive. This kid is going to be great.
December 1st, 2011 at 1:22 PM ^
I don't remember that many lineman-sized prospects coming out of FHH. Most of them seem to be running backs, receivers, and defensive backs.
December 1st, 2011 at 2:04 PM ^
and I don't remember any either, but for fuck's sake Magnus
It's high praise from a legendary coach and look on the bright side and don't think so critically on every little thing and the kid is going to be great end of story goddamn you.
December 1st, 2011 at 2:06 PM ^
lol I agree that it's high praise. I'm just sayin'.
December 1st, 2011 at 12:59 PM ^
No sparty committs. A handful of amazing UM committs.
And quite a few are heading out of state.
December 1st, 2011 at 1:12 PM ^
Just more proof of the media bias in favor of scUM in Michigan!
December 1st, 2011 at 1:29 PM ^
That's cute.
