Those helmets themselves are OK (the school behind them, not so much). That being said, I don't think the problem with changing uniforms is the change itself, it's just that so many of the changes are too wacky. "If the recruits like them, I'm OK with them" is thrown around a lot, but I doubt recruits like new crap uniforms over great, albiet old and stale, uniforms. I'm a full NINE years removed from freshman year, so maybe I'm too old, but I can't imagine that even back then I would have enjoyed our Mt. Dew Bengals jerseys. A jersey change once or twice a year is no big deal if it's done well. But not when the alternate jerseys/helmets/turf are the equivalent of the file "test.bmp" that is sitting on your desktop from when you first learned how to use Paint and used every tool all at once.

I don't really get it.  Objectively speaking, Ohio State actually has pretty decent looking uniforms.  The red pops, and the helmets with buckeyes are distinctive.  *sigh*

In regards to team uniforms, usually the sponsor has a big say in what the teams wear.  I'm not defending ohio by any means.  If their game this week is one of the highlight games where Nike has made special uniforms then the school has nothing to do with the design.

Last year I remember sitting in the corporate Adidas suite for the UT/Ole Miss game and I was talking with one of the people from Adidas after small talk revealed that I am from Ann Arbor and he said ,"wait until you see what we have designed for UTL"

Hard to be critical of the Buckeyes when Michigan wears those "throwback" mutant bumbebee outfits. Seriously, DB needs to gather those clown suits up in a pile on the Diag, soak them in lighter fluid, and flick a match to them.

When did it become logical for teams with nice uniforms and tradition to follow in the footsteps of Oregon, MSU, and Maryland and just pump out avant-garde, fashion week-inspired "uniforms" that don't harken back to anything other than a bored artist at Nike's perception of American football in the mid-20th century?  These uniforms all worked for over a century; why not keep it going?  Does anyone look at Oregon or MSU and think, that's a look I was to imitate?
