OT: LB Nick Barnett to meet with Detroit Lions on Sunday
It appears the Lions will definitely sign another Free Agent Linebacker, but which LB that is remains to be seen. Nick Barnett is flying into Detroit on Sunday to meet with the Lions, and could sign a contract. It appears to be between Nick Barnett and Stephen Tulloch. Who would you rather see in a Lions uniform this season .. Barnett or Tulloch? I think both bring a unique dimension to the team. Tulloch played in Shwartz system, and knows the playbook. On the other hand, Barnett has played in the NFC North his entire career, and is familiar with all of the teams ... especially Green Bay. If I had to choose I would say Barnett ... heck .. sign them both.

Tulloch seems to want to stay in Tennessee and would probably be a lot pricier. Barnett works fine for me and probably comes cheaper.
Barrett Ruud just signed with Tennessee, so I'm not entirely sure Tulloch is going to go back there.
errrrrntt Wrong.....Tulloch come on down
I like Barnett personally
is a solid player. He might also want to stick it to Green Bay for letting him go as well.
I think he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder, see his tweet from earlier.
@NickBarnett
Can't believe #packers already gave my number out lol sad
Sign him. Now. He's a game changer. Crafty vet.
Detroit will get a solid player in nick. Im upset it didnt work out in gb this year but thats part of the business.
and definitely a fiery player, but he was prone to mental errors that really hurt GB's defense at times...plus his emotion sometimes was a distraction for the team, but definitely a solid player...
He's also very injury prone, season ending injuries in '08 and '10
my dad's friend said he saw Barnett riding in Suh's car on the freeway tonight.
Were they buckled up?
Did someone say "buckle up"?...oh boy...
I'd prefer Barnett, but I think either would be solid pickups. I'd be more worried about getting someone from the constantly shrinking DB pool.
Reports are that Clements signed with Cinci tonight. Just another in the dwindling pool gone. Hope Lions move quick.
The last part of your comment makes no sense...why would anybody want to upgrade from Morgan Trent?
So if the Lions take Barnett, where does Levy play? I was under the impression that both Levy and Durant were either MLB or WLB, and Barnett is a true MLB. Although I guess I won't complain about the Lions having too many good players on D for once.
Both Levy and Durant can any of the three linebacker spots.
WLB - Barnett, MLB - Levy, SLB - Durant/Carpenter
OR
WLB - Levy, MLB - Tulloch, SLB - Durant/Carpenter
yea, need a CB soon
Does anyone really feel like the Lions are whiffing big time in the FA market?
They have already updated the LB corps with Durant. With Barnett or Tulloch they would have solidified a huge weakness.
I think the problem here is unrealistic expectations. The Lions were never going to be able to fill all their holes this offseason. To think that they would was not a realistic expectation.
Almost every team in the NFL wanted Joseph and Asomugha(sic). I don't think the Lions had a chance at either.
They can find decent CB's in the '12 draft or in FA.
Durant has a history of injury and I think someone mentioned that Tulloch is not coming here... Didn't need Joseph or Ashmouga, couple other names out there, but man.. Can they please stop drafting RBs? Trading picks to move up for a position that is abundantly available year in and year out just hurts.
They are. The spin machine is in full force with shills like Dan Miller and Tom Kowalski repeatedly saying that FAs the Lions were supposed to be in on got too big of a contract and that the Lions are being smart and patient.
Of course these are guys who would be saying it's a sign that the Lions are back on the map and getting big respect from players had they signed Joseph for MORE than the Texans did.
No not yet. If no proven CB is acquired, then maybe
Lions sign Stephen Tulloch today, don't know what this means for Barnett.
