Glad to see he landed somewhere at last. Hopefully he will realize how lucky he is to be able to earn a college degree while still playing the game he loves. I hope he makes the best out of this second chance.
'09 ND game / South Endzone in the last 90 seconds / still my favorite Big House Memory.
Thanks Tater and good luck to you!
GBOD . . . .
Endzone.
Thanks for the memories and the autograph after the 09 EMU game. This guy named Jeff Garcia also played at SJSU and he turned out alright...
Congrats Tate, do your homework this time.
is a damn good football player. Not everyone is ready for college when they are 18. Hopefully he learns and grows and wins some games out west. Thanks for the memories Tate!!
How much his home schooling prepared him for the University of Michigan. I would guess he was in over his head from the get go.
I knew a couple homeschooled kids who did just fine, better than most, in fact. I think maturity & discipline had more to do with things than homeschooling.
always really liked Tate. I remember how ecstatic I was when he showed up in the spring of 09 and really impressed. He seems like a great guy with a few issues to work out, not unlike a lot of people at that age group. I sincerely wish him all the best and hope he has nothing but success at SJSU.
I hope Forcier gets it together and has a great life. The alternative is becoming a walking version of the old song, "Do You Know the Way to San Jose."
He's in a great position: fairly close to home against inferior competition in a state that really wants people on any kind of scholly to graduate. I'm sure he would rather be in Hawaii surrounded by island girls, but he will probably still have plenty of fun in San Jose, too.
Seriously though. I wish him luck. He's a hell of a QB, just needs to work on academics.
Fresno State
Should be good for him to be geographically close to his family too. I remember that being at least the initial rationale for why things didn't work out with Miami (YTM), and then bizarrely hearing that he was considering Hawaii (obviously without reciprocity)... which I'm pretty sure is quite a ways off the West Coast too. His dad always seemed to be a positive influence on him, encouraging him to stick with the program and keep his ego in check after Denard started being Denard and TF had to sit the bench.
This is your second shot, Tate. Take advantage of it. Good luck.
If i never reead a post about this guy on this site again, that would be just fine. I wish him ell and all, but the dramatic saga must come to an end. BTW - i doubt he finishes his carrer there. Just sayin.
Since he transfered so late and his grades where bad i'm assuming he will red shirt this year. would probably be the best thing for him. I'll try and catch one of his games lol i liked watching him jump around like it was his first football game after he scored.
Good luck Tate , been a strange 2 years for you for sure
He would have to redshirt no matter what.
Wolverman is right.
... but for me, the best Tater memory was a few weeks later against MSU. When he basically single-handedly willed the team the length of the field to the tying touchdown, injured, exhausted, and in a monsoon, that did it for me. Michigan Man forever as far as I'm concerned. Wish he'd been a better student.
in the sense that all the issues with academics and playing time seemed to never affect his performance too much on the field. Regardless of what Forcier does now, I'll always remember that comeback he led against Notre Dame and wish him well.
Go Tate! I'll always root for you, and will never forget the way you played your heart out against ND, Illinois, and in other games.
I was hoping the athletic department would relent and allow you to rejoin the team, but alas, it didn't.
Best of luck!
Loved what he did in a few games for Michigan. Sad ending to his story at Michigan. Good Luck kid.

I have it from a source inside the SJSU AD that Tate Forcier is no longer enrolled at the school. He is, as a result no longer part of the football team.
I don't want to get too much into what he did (or didn't do) at SJSU that led to this, but the same problems that haunted Tate at UM seem to have followed him to SJSU and their head coach was having nothing of it.
Sad to see Tate go this route again...really want to see this kid get the chance to succeed.
