OT: NFL Draft - who ya want?

Submitted by MichLove on

I for one am a huge fan of the NFL Draft - I will literally watch the entire thing start to finish (of course with a couple cases of beer by my side). I am a NY Giants fan and I am hoping that Pouncey falls far enough to be snagged up by the GMen.

I am sure there are a lot of Lions fans in here but I throw this question out to the MGoWorld: Who's your team and who do you want them to draft?

EDIT: Thanks for all the responses, keep them coming - can't wait for tomorrow night at 8!

D-Lineman or AJ Green. Also could use a running back, tight end, O-line help. And linebackers, safeties and another cornerback. And a QB.

We're good at kicker I think.

Lions fan and if Prince isn't there at 13, I would like to see them trade down (or up however you want to look at it) and accumulate some picks and get some solid LBs and O-linemen

I want Bowers. If the lions docs give his knee the OK then we have an excellent opportunity to get one of the best players available at tremendous value. If he stays healthy, he has all-pro potential. He'd be going into a favorable situation, and would have time to develop behind KVB, who isn't a spring chicken.

I would be happy if the niners drafted Peterson.  They need a shutdown corner, our pass defense is pretty bad.  I am hoping we draft a project QB in the second round like a Dalton or Kapernick.  I have little faith or hope for Alex Smith.

Patriots.

Two first round picks- I hope they trade the picks away for something like two third round picks in 2012 and two second round picks in 2013.

And I know the tongue was planted firmly in cheek, but man, now that they have so many, are close, and have needs....wouldn't it be nice for them to use all those picks they've accumulated to finally, I don't know, draft some players? Particularly on defense.

"Who can make tackles in the open field and has a nose for the ball. I need a guy whose motor never stops and runs well downhill in between the numbers. Give me a difference maker who was recruited as a tight end in college who has unlimited upside. I also need a fella who can make all the throws and is a team guy but more importantly respected in the huddle. Blue collar players are welcome but must make all the tackles and no lapse in concentration."

Personally I like all of your choices but when phrases make its way from the combine to television to the viewer to the internet. Inexact sciences dont always need concrete explanations.

I haven't the slightest idea who the pack will take at 32. There's all kinds of hype on the interwebs that we should take a RB in the first round, but I don't see that happening due to our staff loving James Starks and Ryan Grant coming back off an ankle that's had a ton of time to heal. Maybe we'll take a 3rd down RB in the later rounds.

I would personally love to get some more depth in the secondary because Jarrett Bush, Pat Lee and Brandon Underwood scare me. Please give me Aaron Williams or Brandon Harris.

Realistically, Jimmy Smith would be great at #23.
Eagles need a CB like none other

But if the Eagles could somehow trade Kolb and some picks for a CB like Peterson or Prince, or a dominating pass rusher like Quinn or Fairley, I'd be very happy

Julio Jones. They need a stud wide reciever. I believe that that they can get a quarterback in Free Agency (if there is) or in the second round, but need another offensive weapon opposite Ocho. Especially, with Ocho starting to wind down in numbers.

Even though he runs slower 40s than Jones but Green is faster on the field.  Vertically explosive and get in/out breaks then explodes.  Julio Jones doesn't runs to his timed speed on the field but is better at underneath route alas Boldin.  Green is special and would be a vertical threat.

Not really sold on prince. I think jimmy smith might the best cover man in the draft. I think the best thing for the lions to do is trade down and get jimmy smith and more picks.

I would love if the Bears traded their 2nd and 3rd picks to get a second 1st rounder and use both of them on tackles. The OL situation is so bad that just getting one stud probably won't be enough to solidify the line going forward. Plus the bears mess up so often with their early/mid round picks that I'd much prefer this situation over taking a stab at ANOTHER mediocre safety or corner or backer...

Not that this will ever happen.

and i want whatever the best player available player is at these positions, cornerback.linebacker.oline.and safety. i think we should only draft and sign players at these positions.

I have seen a number of comments about the lions taking Jimmy Smith. Does everyone know he failed 4 drug tests in Colorado? Do people really think he is going to quit that once he has money to buy drugs? On top of that he also two alcohol related violations and an arrest for third degree assault. Mayhew and Schwartz are character guys and I can't see them grabbing him in the 1st round.

with possible prospects available at that spot.  I'd want either Da'Quan Bowers or Cam Jordan at #13.  Both would be an excellent LDE especially with Bowers.  Can you imagine Bowers and Suh on one side? Talk about matchup nightmare for OL to block against.

This will go with the Lions BPA.  They are looking to trade down since some of the top 10 prospects will fall to #13 spot so there will be a lot of callers IMO.  The Lions can trade back and land Jimmy Smith if they feel that he can fit in with the locker room.

As everyone else, I would ike the Lions to take Prince. If not though, I would really like to get JJ Watt. Not only is he a great player but a great person. Yes, DLine is a strength on the team, but Avril is a free agent and Vanden Bosch can't be around for too much longer (nobody knows how he will come back after the neck surgery). Watt and Suh would solidify our DLine for years to come.

I think the Saints can't afford to skimp around it any longer...they need a home-run threat at RB. If the guy out of Illinois (Leshoure) is available, then maybe him...

THEN again, RAY Vinopal stopped him on third and short in that crazy game back in October. Sorry, but we need an RB w/ some oomph. Maybe we should get a DB...

I would personally like to see the Lions address the corner position through free agency (party at my house if they can pick up Asomugha).

I think that the Lions need to grab either an OL (Pouncey or Tyron Smith if available) or else the hated "best player available" as long as it isn't a QB, WR or RB.  I would probably even be happy with a stud DE.
