OT - Manny being Manny (and getting suspended 50 games)
Manny Ramirez will be suspended 50 games for violating baseball's steroid policy.

Fifty games is a complete joke. Baseball needs to be on the Olympic system: two years, then life for the second offense.
How can you criticize baseball's PED policy when you consider that when Shawne Merriman was caught, he missed a handful of games and returned a hero.
what a joke, so dissapointed in manny how do you do steriods after all the crap that has gone on.
manny+steroids= JOKE
babe ruth used steriods lol hot dogs and beer. Screw these guys sick of them where are the williams, ruth's, gherigs??
I thought you were talking about Manny Harris. 50 games, that's almost two seasons!
(kidding)
We call that suspension a Jamal Crawford.
Don't tell Bill Simmons - he might have a heart attack realizing that one of his favorite players might have been on the juice while playing for the Sawx.
on the juice. he was prescribed something by a doctor but said doctor didn't check the banned substance list before giving the medication to manny. this wasn't done on purpose
Oh man I hate to break it to you, but Santa and the Easter Bunny aren't real either...
santa's not real...(tear)
lol, well what i should've written is that i hope what manny said is true.
they said he tested positive for something that they give pregnant women to get their testosterone running again.
also, its what steroid users use after a cycle to clean out their system
he claims his dr gave it to him because of a health issue, but the problem is he knew it was banned and could have asked baseball for an exemption to get it.
excuses excuses. baseballs a joke. is anyone clean?
When that was the excuse the first 2-3 times, I could kind of believe it. But when every guy who is busted whips out the "I didn't know; my doctor must have given me something that was banned" card, I have a hard time buying it. You are getting paid $25 million/year to hit a ball; check the damn label of anything you put in your body and make sure it is not going to screw up a test. Plus, I doubt his doctor is an idiot and does not have the list available before prescribing whatever Manny claimed he gave him.
Very true. Although, even if I were a minor leaguer, I'd be asking my doctor if this "medication" a) is healthy for me or b) violating any drug policies.
As a baseball fan, I'm hoping the truth reveals it's really medical marijuana.
who had to deal with non-stop derision from Dodger fans for rooting for Barry, this is the sweetest of schadenfruede.
i live in boston and this sucks. b/c everyone here will gloat about this and just talk about it for at least a month.
"I live in Boston and this sucks." You could have just stopped there and I would have agreed. lol j/k
But without Boston and New York, what is there to talk about in sports!
Let's see... Michigan and Ohio State.
Barcelona and Madrid.
Other than that, you're absolutely right.
No Chalmers I agree with you, the NFL's policy is terrible too. I think football tends to get off easier because the quality of play hasn't been as drastically changed as baseball's has been due to the steroids. Or maybe because baseball is more individual and stats-based than football is. But regardless football should enact much tougher penalties for positive tests.
Because my little brother is in town for his 21st birthday and we have Dodger tickets for tonight. That's a bummer, he won't get to see Manny play, that was a big reason for going. He couldn't have waited one more day?
He declined an appeal, so it appears he could have played for another game or two before everything came together. Perhaps he knew you were coming and did it on purpose!
"Man, I hate that WolvinLA!"
Well, I was there Monday too, and saw him hit a bomb. So it's not me, it must be my little brother. Apparently Manny Ramirez, in addition to taking steroids, hates birthdays.
What did he do on Tuesday, because that was my birthday? Based off your statement I'm assuming he went 0-4 with 4 Ks. =[
Haha, he was actually 0-3, but had a walk. Theory proven!
Happy belated, btw.
If your birthday is on Cinco De Mayo and you go to a Mexican restaurant, there is a 100% chance that you will get a free shot of 1800 and a 2-foot plastic inflatable Corona bottle, complete with a lime wedge.
I have done extensive research.
Bday on Cinco de Mayo, nice.
That reminds me of a good friend from college. His birthday is on St. Patty's Day, his last name is Bier (pronounced BEER) and he's from Milwaukee, the beer city.
I wish I had such a clear destiny.
- He didn't test positive for anything. This was a paperwork banning.
- The substance in his body didn't show up on the test, just a high level of testosterone.
- This was caused by a female fertility drug, not steroids.
- This fertility drug is often used by steroid users to restart their natural production of testosterone.
- There is no real sign he used steroids, but this is a fairly likely sign that he has been.
- The fertility drug is also on the banned substance list just due to its heightened levels of testosterone.
Baseball and cheating go hand in hand. Always have, always will.
So nothing shocking here.
Supposedly, he tested positive for HCG, a drug commonly used after completing a cycle of steroids.

I read this headline, assumed it was about Manny Harris, and wondered why Michigan basketball was cursed forever. Don't scare us like that.
mwahahahahahahhahahaha
There are few others I'd like to see get caught more.
