We will be in section 3...we will join for sure.  n

Big ten east Was actually a tie between osu and psu. Too bad the tiebreaker isn't cfp ranking for the big ten championship so psu wouldn't be a factor. Then maybe we would have a 2% chance.
Went to a friends wedding at Went to a friends wedding at the league. It's great. They have reception rooms and some hotel rooms as well. Plus there are post reception bars within walking distance.
Based on his logic we should Based on his logic we should select the teams Before conference play in January since teams like Monmouth don't get a chance to play big 5 teams after that point. After all that is his reasoning for ignoring conference tournaments.
Happy Birthday Jack!

Jack and his wife are wonderful people; and true Michigan Wolverines.  I have had the pleasure of dinner with Jack and had a similar experience.  He is gracious and amazing to talk with, patiently answers any questions you have (although some answers are still classified!)  Hope you have a great day, Happy 20th!!!

Thank you!! Thank you!!
Divisions

I agree they are a mess.  Try this: I would realign after every season, which would help with balancing, though it will never be perfect.  Last years results set up next years division and schedule.  You play every team in your division once, plus one protected rivalry game on the  final week of the season (Michigan-osu, Indiana-purdue, Illinois-NW, msu-psu, iowa-nebraska, wisconsin-minn, maryland-rutgers).  You get two cross division games total.  You can balance the schedule by using the seeds so that the first place team would play the 6th and and 8th, the 3rd plays the 4th and 10th etc.  (Add up the value of the teams you play and keep them as close to equal as possible, i.e. 6+8=14,  4+10=14)  Of course the rivalry games will mess up the balancing so there would be a rule to adjust for that.  If the rivalrly game ends up 1 vs. 2 then 1 would  end up playing 2 & 14 instead of 6 & 8).  I don't have time to do the math, but the point is it can be fairly well balanced since there are an even number of total teams and few scheduling rules that are set in stone.  Rivlarly games alternate home and home, all other games would have to be based off where the rivalry games are being played so that every team gets half home, half away games.  Use conference record, then h2h, then overall record, then coin flip for tiebreakers.  Use records among mulitple tied teams as a tiebreaker, if 3 or more teams tie for a placing.  Big 10 championship from previous year decides who is 1 & 2.

Division odds:  1st-3rd-5th-7th-9th-11th-13th

Division evens:  2nd-4th-6th-8th-10th-12th-14th

This would be this years divisions (based on 2014 results):

osu-msu-neb-iowa-ill-nw-Ind

wis-minn-md-rut-um-psu-purdue

*there were four 3-5 big teams last year (um, rutgers, ill, nw).  their slots are based on the records amongst those teams rutgers & illinois were 1-0 (michigan was 1-1, nw 0-1), but rutgers had an overall better record (8-5) than illinois (6-7).

this year we would have played wis-minn-md-rutgers-psu-purdue-osu-(one more crossover, likely nw-indiana-rutgers depending on value of all the crossover games).  osu would have msu-neb-iowa-ill-nw-ind-(minn-md-ill).  we wouldn't get msu until the big 10 championship, or not at all this year (and everybodies TVs would still be intact).

each division ends up this year with 3-4 traditionally strong teams (osu-msu-neb-iowa) (wis-um-psu).  they could do the final schedule either after the big 10 championship game, or wait until after bowls, it doesn't really matter too much whether bowl season is included in the final records or not.

commence general complaining and shooting down of idea...

1331 Geddes

FYI, I lived at 1331 Geddes in college....One night 2 of my roomates got into a heated discussion over who gets to pour the tequila.  Obviously, some details are fuzzy but the end result was that the loser of the argument stormed off weeping and kicked a large hole in the wall at the top of the stairs.

The hole remained most of the year, discreetly hidden behind a well placed Labatt's Blue poster.  The 'weeping offender' attempted a patch job 2 days before we moved out (security deposit intact).

Perhaps it is the house?

You don't have to cement divisions You could easily just realign the divisions after each year putting the odd places in one division (1st/3rd/5th/7th/9th/11th) and the evens in the other division. You then just have a standard schedule playing 5 games in your division and 3 in the other division. That gives you room for 4 OOC games (3 if you have 14 teams). It wouldn't be hard to formulate a schedule whereby the rivalry games were played each year even if they end up in opposite divisions (if OSU & UM in opposite divisions they always play in week 6, or whatever -- that would be one of your 3 non-division games...the others could be based on where that team lands withing that division so that you don't end up playing a ridiculous schedule --though the last time we were undefeated, we played a ridiculous schedule). This years alignment would be like this: Division 1: OSU, PSU, NW, PUR, ILL, IND Division 2: Iowa, WIS, MSU, MINN, Michigan, NEWTEAM **You could even have 'rivalry week' where every year the rivalries are played in week 6 (or whenever)so you could alternate home teams. Michigan-OSU, PSU-MSU, PUR-IND, ILL-NW, WIS-MINN, IOWA-MISSOU (the new team may change the rivalry alignment) theres 2 cents for ya
