I can't bring myself to jump…

I can't bring myself to jump on the battery operated car yet. I'm too old school and like burning fossil fuel in the four vehicles my wife and I have. Two of them are daily drivers (2016 Audi A3 convertible and 2022 VW Atlas) then there are the old school toys, a 1974 Triumph TR6 and a just recently acquired all original 1984 Hurst Olds with T-Tops with 49,000 original miles.

Kudos to your fiancee' mgobaran. I work in the funeral profession as well. (see my post below) I worry terribly about our funeral directing staff also.

I am the CFO for a guy who…

I am the CFO for a guy who owns 8 funeral homes and a large ambulance company that handles 26,000 calls per year. My office is in a separate building. the staff in this building are still coming to work everyday since we essentially manage the businesses. All eight of our funeral homes are closed to the public. The staff make all funeral arrangements over the phone and send docusign documents to folks for signatures. It's very difficult, because a funeral home is in the business of bringing people together to say goodbye. Right now we are encouraging people not to do this. People say its a shame not to have funerals and that funeral gatherings should be exempt from social distancing. What no one realizes is that if the trained professionals (funeral directors) catch this stuff, they can't work then who cares for the dead?

Our ambulance people, God love em, are right on the front lines of this are are more than willing to answer the call....all 160 of them. So far, for both companies we are doing everything we can to make sure whether they work or not or are in quarantine, to pay their salaries in full....same with the funeral home staff. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM in both companies have stepped up to keep things going to help the public. I can't say enough great things about them. They are to be admired.

Very cool watching those little guys run, jump and play. We just had to put our almost 14 year old Boston Terrier down last weekend. As sad as we are, we really enjoy seeing other people out and about with their dogs.

I guess I'm an old fart. I don't get/know/understand the connection that Pit Bull has to UM that makes him worthy of being on the banner. Kind of stupid to me. Just keep UM related artwork on it instead of him.

I have four ladies that work for me in our company administration offices. I could not ask for better more dedicated people to work with. I just finished mixing up a batch of bloody mary's for all of us because, hey......its Friday!

I for one will not spend 8.00 for a plastic cup full of bud light, miller light, etc. Now, you start selling cans of craft brewed IPA's or stouts, I might reconsider. But those would probably sell for 13.00 since they charge 4 buck for a bottle of water.

I'd prefer this game to be under the afternoon sunshine

Thanks for the offer. I…

Thanks for the offer. I probably know your friends in Northern Michigan. Actually, my wife and I are happy here. We live in the Youngstown area. Cost of living is ridiculously cheap. I get back to Michigan frequently to deal with my elderly parents and I still have my football season tickets and go to every home game.. When I retire in four or five years we will probably move back. I've got a pretty good gig here. Work mon-Fri and can pretty much come and go as I please. I don't miss doing the funeral directing thing....on call nights, weekends, holidays got pretty wearing on me. In fact next year I probably will not renew my Michigan license to practice anymore.

LOL, I wasn't trying to call you out in my reply xtramelanin

yeah, I moved here from…

yeah, I moved here from Michigan 5 years ago. Don't do the funeral directing stuff. The guy I work for has an ambulance company, 8 funeral homes and a law office. I take care of all of company financials.

A house fire would not turn…

A house fire would not turn the bones into "dust". The actual process of cremation in a crematory does not reduce bones to dust either. Bones are what is left over after the process. They are then mechanically pulverized. Short answer with all due respect to xtramelanin is that bones would be left over after a house fire.

I know this because I have been a licensed funeral director for 33 years and the current funeral home company I work for owns two crematories in addition to their funeral homes.

UUHH, I'm not bent out of…

UUHH, I'm not bent out of shape about politics. I've been going to the games for 35 years and have never seen a halftime show like that. I'm all for voting, but good God do we have to have a half time show that to me is clearly pointed toward the dislike of the current administration? I'm not starting a political discourse on the blog, but saying I'm part "of the problem" for sharing my thoughts????? Fuck this place. I'm done.

Whoever moderates, this blog, cancel my account and donate my points to someone else

gdub, I couldn't agree with…

gdub, I couldn't agree with you more...especially the SMU halftime show. I remember thinking that politics has now entered college halftime shows. I could also be happy with much much less music in between every goddamn play played so loud that it distorted. Unfortunately it doesn't feel as much like a college experience but inching closer to an NFL experience.

Yeah.....and while we're at…

Yeah.....and while we're at it lets reach out to the student group from a few years ago that wanted to write a new fight song and get that going too....NOT!!!!!

This is great to hear but…

This is great to hear but good God I hope the offensive line is vastly improved so he doesn't end up in the hospital.

this is a sorta regret...

Had an opportunity to sell my Triumph TR6 to a classic car dealer in Lake Bluff, IL and purchase a 1967 Jaguar XKE coupe from the same dealer.. At the time I just couldn't bring myself to part with my TR6 because of all of the work I had done on it and the fact that I would be giving up a convertible. At times, 15 years later, I sometimes regret not making the switch.

Paying players won't solve the problem

Hypothetical....the NCAA agrees to allow schools to pay players $15,000.00 per year for playing. What is going to keep the slime programs from using the same bagmen to slide an extra 20k under the table to mom, dad or player.

I don't see how paying these players is going to "fix" college sports. They have turned in to a feeder system for the NFL and the NBA.

I'm still a purist

Would rather listen to the marching band. Piped in music does nothing positive for my gameday experience, especially the crap that they play. Also to me the sound system is not that good. It is more distortion than anything else.. And another thing, can the idiot who is operating the on off switch for it hit the off switch in time to hear the Victors played from the very start when the team takes the field???  Oh and by the way, get off my lawn.

There, I'm done.

four generations went

Four generations went there in my family. My grandmother graduated in 1928 (she was Bennie Oostebahn's english tutor), my parents met there, my uncle went there, my brother played football there from 1976-1980 and his son went there and was in the marching band. Me, had I even been able to get in, I would have ended up like Blutarsky in animal house with about the same grade point average.

Instead I've had season tickets for 31 years.

I do

I do.

either Vodka or....

Grey Goose Vodka or a dark high alcohol content craft beer and cigars. This is my go to not only for the Super Bowl but any Michigan tailgate or even, say.....Tuesday after work.

There is no QB in the world

who would fare well in this game with the current offensive line. Just use O'Korn who does have game experience and hope for the best. Putting a guy in who is on the scout team only, no game preparation or experience, and only using him because he seemed to have "smarts" in an ultra controlled spring game situation would be a bad idea. Until the offensive line learns to pick up blitzes, block guys effectively, etc., etc., etc., no quarterback is going to survive. This doesn't even take account back who don't block or recievers that cant get seperation.

UM football always first

in my family. When I was in high school, my brother was on UM's football team. My cousin was getting married on a home game saturday. I asked my dad if we were going to the wedding. His reply was no, we are going to the ball game.

In 1993 on the eve of the UM/OSU football game, my grandfather died in a car accident. He played football at OSU in the 1920's but he didn't like OSU. My dad and I went to the game with my mom's blessing (it was her dad that died) and we made funeral arrangments on Sunday.

In 2011 when my father in law retired, his retirement celebration was on the Saturday of the 1st under the lights game agains ND. When the family was together in July, I announced I was going to the game. My wife acted a little shocked but my father in law immediately came to the rescue and told me that he expected that I would go to the game and that I should go. So I did.

Just about everyone in my family and small circle of friends knows if there is a home UM game and they plan a function, I won't be attending.

Like the way your mind works. Very similar to mine

I'm disappointed....

I wish the players pants had the dark blue block M on them. Don't give a shit about jumping basketball players and swooshes.

this one doesn't

she does do serious driving

For the first 4 years she owned it she drove 150 miles round trip for work per day. Then I moved to Ohio so that would add another 600 miles every other weekend. When she moved here full time to be with me in june of 2016 the car had 178,000 on it. Her driving has decreased considerably

Audi's are great

My wife is on her third Audi. Her current 2012 TT convertible has 190,000 miles on it. Other than brakes and tires, we have replaced the stereo amplifier and the convertible top motor. It has been a great car.

You are correct

The TR6 is a pretty slow car. However, for me, there is nothing better than heading out early on a cool saturday morning with the top down cruising the back country roads for a couple of hours. Sadly, I just put it away for the winter a few days ago. Once all visible traces of salt are washed from the roads in the spring, it comes back out. Can't wait!

Not shopping for anything

Happy with what I have to drive. 2012 Jaguar XF with gas sucking V8, 1974 Triumph TR6 and my wife's 2012 Audi TT convertible. All paid for. Don't want no new stinkin' payments.

This is why I'll NEVER

This is why I'll never start a thread. I don't need to. There are more people to post threads than there is current news to report.

pricing is ridiculous

pricing is ridiculous just to have a logo of a glorified stick figure holding a sphere in the air.

You sir...

are a brave individual. I don't really like people I know coming to my house let alone strangers....especially during Michigan football.

Seriously, sounds like a great time. Enjoy.

Rally the troops in Speights honor

And KILL Sparty

Excellent footage!

My grandmother was a student at UM and was at this game. She saved the ticket the stub and program and gave them to my my brother (who played football at UM) when he graduated in 1980. As a side note, she was also Bennie Oostebahn's english tutor that season.

every weekend is wifey weekend

My wife goes to all of the UM games with me. She watches college football when UM has no home game for us to go to. This weekend at her request, we are going to the Youngstown State night game. The stadium is 10 minutes from our home.

This is useful!!

I had the correct spelling and everything. That final missing piece....398 on the barcode, is what I need to finish my printing. Gonna be a good week. Thanks!!

Seriously, to MgoMediocrity, sorry that you got scammed. Society in general is going down the shitter.

I personally dislike

I personally dislike the piped in music. To me it takes away from the college atmosphere. The other reason I dislike it is because the sound system in the Big House is crappy. When music is played, it is so loud it is full of distortion. It also seemed to me at last weeks game, they played more piped in music than in the previous game.

Sunday I was at Heinz Field. Typical pro game....full of piped in music, but I have to admit, it sounded much much better. They have an amazingly clear sounding system with no distortion.

Still, for me, the piped in music does not add to my gameday experience in Michigan Stadium.
