Last year we parked at Pioneer High School, and it was not too packed. We got there 3 hours before the "game", so we got a spot within a few hundred yards of the southwest entrance.
Only problem was that they did not provide porta-potties, so we had to pee by the car (illegal, by the way). The cops are pretty lenient (technically, alcohol is not allowed on Pioneer grounds, but they let it slide), but I have heard of people getting cited for whipping it out and emptying their beer-bladder.
My recommendation is that for those (guys) who like to tailgate, and aren't too squeamish, bring a large Gatorade bottle to pee into while sitting in the car (might still be considered public indecency, don't know), then empty it under the car out of foot traffic range. (Ladies, not sure what to recommend.) That was our biggest issue. Other than that, we had a great time, tailgated like normal, brought a big deli sub to munch on, etc.
I am hoping as Spring Game numbers increase, the athletic department will realize they need to start treating the spring tailgating situation like any other game.
PS - The Spring Game will be on the Big Ten Network, but on tape delay at 8:00PM.
Watching my Detroit Lions get whipped on Thursday while I slip into a tryptophan-induced food coma, then waking up on Saturday morning to get ready for the ultimate party of the year? Beautiful! Better than Christmas morning!
Do it... Do it.
what you said. I couldn't agree more. Not a huge fan of Spielman, but he's a good announcer. Keith Jackson is the man, and Brandstatter and Beckman are my Saturday afternoon guys. If there weren't an HD delay, I'd mute my TV and listen to their play by play on the radio.
None better than Ufer, though.
Alright, I guess I may be expecting a bit too much given the parity (forgive the use of a now cliche term) in college football.
How about 1 to 2?
I think that's fair, assuming recruiting will become even easier if we get back to our winning (and then some) ways.
If Florida can do it...
Simply put:
Every year -
Top 15 in the nation at the end of the season.
Top 5 in the Big Ten at the end of the season
Compete in a BCS or top tier bowl
8 or more wins
Every other year to every 2 years -
Win the Big Ten Championship
Compete in and win a BCS bowl
2-3 times in any 10-year span -
Win the BCS National Championship
That's what I think any true Blue fan should expect from Michigan Football. All things being equal of course. This assumes the rest of the Big Ten stops sucking, and Michigan stays on course.
