Nice photo of MMB (who did an excellent show).

Old Days

I sat in the freezing rain in Michigan Stadium watching an injured Hart and Henne give everything they had only to lose yet again to the Buckeyes. I didn't receive much sympathy from the Buckeyes that day and they'll get none from me today. Its part of football and it happens to every team at some point. I wish nothing but the best for this young man. Go Blue!

Auto Play

Anything you can do about the auto-play video? It's annoying for those of us who don't give a damn about soccer.

The very top shelf

Two the the three goals Zach gave up Friday were of NHL quality. Right on the very top shelf in the corner at the speed of light. No shame in that.

Remix

Michigan by 8.

Any

Any road win in the B1G is a quality win. That said, I about shit myself when Bielfeldt  fouled the 3 point shooter. Also, kudos to Horford. This kid will play a huge role in what this team does this year. Go Blue!

I still wonder

How did things get this bad this fast. Doesn't the Notre Dame game seem like a million years ago?

Give us 4 Billion dollars please

I see no reason whatsoever to be the least bit optimistist about this team with the current coaching staff. I don't see any playerd development or game planning worth a damn. There is nothing this team does well, nothing.

McDowell?

Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Another name to add to the long list of Michigan "locks". It will be interesting to see not only how this season ends up but this recruiting class as well. How did things go from so good to so bad in what seems like 2 months?

Update

FWIW ESPN has reported Bluiett has decommited from UCLA. Has that ship sailed?

The Return

I'm a bit older so I do remember watching Desmond's famous return....sort of. We had gone to Fraser's Pub for eggs and kegs (actually, Bloody Mary's). It was a noon game (like they all used to be) and we started pretty early. It was during commercials so I got up to break the seal and it was going to be a long one. The next thing I know I hear the bar going nuts so I know something big is going on. I zip my fly and get out of there just in time for everyone high-fiving. So, truth be told even though I'm old enough and was watching The Game, I never saw the return live, just in replays like you.

Even Smotrycz? Who's that?

Vote

I picked other because Really Excited Band Guy is my son! Go Blue and Go Zach!!!

Where has this team been?

Brian, I'm not the hockey fan you are but watched both games (thank you CBS 24-hour sports) and they were very entertaining. They look like a completely different team.

Hustle

Coach can't make them older but he can make them hustle. They've been out-worked in a few games, last night especially. I love the coach and I love the team but sometimes I think they try and win on talent alone.

Ufer on WJR

I was a kid when the famous Wangler to Carter pass took place. The game was not on TV so we listened to Bob Ufer on the radio. It took a while to figure out what happened because you couldn't understand a word Bob was trying to say at first. But my dad pointed out "I heard the horn" (speaking of course of Ufer's famous Patton horn) so we knew Michigan had scored. Congratulations Jack! Welcome to Michigan!

Main Stream Media

I don't know if it matters but Mgoblog made Stewart Mandel's SI article today. Just thought I'd pass that on.

"even if you're manufacturing 350-lb. offensive linemen from cheese and Ted Nugent albums"

My co-workers are wondering what I'm laughing about at my desk. I love breaking up my day with a few minutes on Mgoblog reading about my favoirte team. Perhaps Green and Smith can be a two-headed monster for UM for the next several seasons. Go Blue!

New Play

We need Coach B to draw up Computer Blue.

Outburst

To have only 17 points 13 minutes into the half and end up with 46 is crazy. The light switch went on and Iowa was shut down!

Sorry but....

I couldn't possible disagree with you more. Except I did agree that if you like the new looks you're a "less diehard fan". Why does Brandon continually try to fix what is not broken?

Of all things....

....not the helmet! I'm so sick of this shit and there appears to be no end. Brandon should hear it from the fans on this one!!!

Olive Oil

LeVert needs some time in the weight room.

Copp

My son played high school football with Copp at Skyline. The kid is a great athlete. The kind that can really play any sport you put in front of him.

Very interesting takes from

Very interesting takes from both you and Mr. Yost. Thanks, I feel better!

Diamond Life

Not to be a Debbie-downer but Laquon Treadwell  is reminding me of Jordan Diamond from last year. A heavy Michigan lean for months on end and then.......

Ace, thanks for all your updates, they're excellent!

Toothless Badger

Check out Wisconsin's NC schedule. What a joke!

Good point! Will do.

Good point! Will do.

Got me thinking...

According to Wikipedia:

"In Norse mythology, Valhalla (from Old Norse Valhöll "hall of the slain"[1]) is a majestic, enormous hall located in Asgard, ruled over by the god Odin. Chosen by Odin, half of those that die in combat travel to Valhalla upon death, led by valkyries, while the other half go to the goddess Freyja's field Fólkvangr. In Valhalla, the dead join the masses of those who have died in combat known as Einherjar, as well as various legendary Germanic heroes and kings, as they prepare to aid Odin during the events of Ragnarök."

The Indiana game was not on TV so we listened on the radio while Ufer went nuts. We weren't sure what exactly happened for a while but we knew Michigan had won.

Kind of...

A little bit because of who they missed on at the end. They were in the final 2 of some 5* guys at the end of '12 and seemed to miss on each one.

Well put

Very interesting and thoughtful post. I would like to see Michigan close on a few more of those elite guys in the end, I'm sure they'll get their share. Go Blue!

Don't get me wrong....

...I love this staff but will this be the second consecutive year they start like a lion and finish like a lamb?

Helmet #'s

No you're not! I don't like them either. You're talking about the greatest helmet in college football history. You don't need a number on the side.

Color me surprised

I never thought I'd see Brian use a Vanilla Ice re-set.

Four in a row

When was the last time OSU finished with 4 straight losses?

Call me old school but I grew

Call me old school but I grew up with no numbers, blue facemask and that's what I like. If they win 11 games again I really don't care.

Tradition

Numbers on the helmet = disappointed

Game Day Play List

Any idea where I can get an MP3 of Bo's The Team speach? I have a great game day play list with Ufer and the MMB and that speach would make it perfect. Can anyone help?

Oh Danny Boy

You have to wonder what Danny O'Brien is thinking. First, Dooley is looking like a major ass-hat and then the entire D coaching staff leaves. Does he still really want to go to UT? 5-1 Dooley isn't there by his junior year.

Well....

I love how Hoke's sentences all start with "Well,". It's a running joke in our house. Watch any interview with Hoke and count how many times he starts off with "well".

Caption:

"Check it out dude....8 Red Bull's and my hand is steady as a rock!"

Muzak

I was flipping through all the games this past Saturday and heard Seven Nation Army on each game I went to. I don't mind a little pumped in music but for God's sake can we show some originallity? Also, I'm strongly bias (my son's a member of MMB) but when ever possible the band should be heard, not Rawk Mukak. That's one of the great things college football has that pro doesn't. So play some current, cool hip-hop during a review but let's keep it to a minimum and keep it fresh.

I saw much improvment in the

I saw much improvment in the defence. I've been waiting for the front 4 to play that way.

As for REM, being one of the older posters on here I remember well my "post adolescent idealistic phase". REM was a big part of my college soundtrack. They will be missed.

First of all, that "oh shit"

First of all, that "oh shit" moment by Rees was what John Lennon would call instant Karma. That was right after the unbelievable pass interference call on Avery in the End Zone. The one where even Herbbie had to comment that he saw no penalty. I've seen a lot of bad officiating in my days but I lost my mind on that call.

Second, I hate to admit it but I like the Spartan uni's. I agree that the gold makes no sense. But considering some of the other alternate uni's I've seen this is much better.

Last, what great old video. It helps you appreciate the tradition that Michigan has. Keep feeding us that kind of stuff.

Poor Kid

I've got a 16 year old and home and can't imagine him being all alone in the world. Austin Hatch has all the prayers, good Karma and positive vibrations I can send.

Interesting that Dunn doesn't

Interesting that Dunn doesn't make the list.
