Great memories of my junior year at Michigan.  Went to all home games plus ND, Iowa and the Rose Bowl.

Best memory was hanging out at Venice Beach the day after the Rose Bowl.  One of the shop owners came out and asked if my group was from Michigan.  We answered yes and asked how he could tell.  His reply,  "Because you all have big-ass grins on your faces and no f***in tans!"  Apparently he lost a tidy sum betting on Southern Cal.

Also known as the "Shawn Walsh Rule."  Walsh was Maine's hockey coach who got tired of watching Michigan win national titles in their maize jerseys (excuse me-sweaters).

Thanks so much for writing this every week.  The Michigan fanbase needs a moment of levity every so often!  May I request a concise definition of El Assico?

Missed the interview b/c of my daughter's rec league softball game.  Thank you for posting!  Completely agree with Coach B's sentiments.

My only experience with alcohol sold at Michigan Stadium was the 2014 Winter Classic.  In my section, which was full of Leafs fans, the aisle was constantly jammed all the way down to row 30 due to everyone getting up for beer or to use the bathroom.  Unfortunately, I had the seat next to the aisle so I saw very little of the game.  Needless to say, I'm not in favor.

Great podcast discussing a team that I didn't know a lot about.  I really enjoyed listening to the Jim Conley stories.  Conley (if he's able) needs to address the current team at some point this year.

Minor correction-Ara Parseghian was the Northwestern coach through 1963 and coached at Notre Dame in 1964.

Thoughts from the 3rd Deck at LCA

1)  Was not impressed with Will Lockwood at all.  Took an undisciplined penalty to start the game which cost them the first goal.  Made a couple lazy clearing plays that resulted in scoring chances for MTU.  This is one of the few games I've seen this year (thanks B1G Plus)  so I don't want to cast aspersions on him.  I just hope this game wasn't indicative.

2)  Thought the defense played extremely well, with good mentions for Martin, Blankenberg, Ciccone and Luce.  Love to watch Blankenberg skate.  Most of the game they kept Tech bottled up and Mann was there when they didn't.    Tech's first goal and the two shootout goals were snipes by MTU.

3)  Morgan and VanWhye were two of the few forwards that impressed me.  UM will struggle to score goals in games where they can't get their defense involved in the offensive zone or on the rush.

4)  The penalty kill needs work.  Seemed like UM was out of position for every shorthanded situation they were in during the first 2 periods.  This improved in the 3rd however.

5)  Hard working game by Moyle.  Good to see him get rewarded with the goal.

At this point Meyer should just keep quiet.  Any apology this guy issues sounds hollow anyway.  I can't wait for the sideline reporter asking Urbs how painful the suspension has been for him.  My TV may not survive.

Been Watching Hockey Over 40 Years

Greatest game I ever saw, bar none. Sat in the endzone where Hayes scored the winner.  I remember the floorboards in the bleachers bending from people jumping up and down and the NoDak players sobbing on the ice prior to the handshake line.  Saw both games with my MSU alum brother, who said, "I'm never setting foot in this f______ rink ever again!"  He's been good to his word.

Great piece

on a great arena.  First game was in 1985 (M-11, RPI 10 OT) and it just got better from there.  To give some perspective, MSU used to bring their hockey band to games at Yost.  Oh how times have changed!

Much prefer maize over white

but I'm curious to see what blue pants for the road uniform would look like.

Post-Game

Does anyone have his post game interview after he scored that goal?  It was a great tribute to the teams of the early-mid 90's that got so close to winning it but were snakebit in the tournament.  Those teams suffered a great deal, which made it so sweet to finally win one.
