| 2 hours 54 min ago | When Michigan’s band traveled |
When Michigan’s band traveled to the Cowboys Classic in Dallas last season for the Wolverines’ game with Alabama, it cost the university an estimated $400,000. The decision to send the band came after heavy criticism when it was announced they would not make the trip. I'm just counting my blessing that the players and coaching staff still get to go to the away games. When somebody figures out exactly how much money we'd save by keeping them home we might be in trouble. |

WTF is going on at ND? My guess is that when the players are being recruited they get to meet this Brian Kelly.... And who wouldnt want to play for a fun-loving irshman with a twinkle in his eye like that? I mean he's practicaly a leprechaun wouldnt you say? Then they get on campus and start practice and then they get to meet THIS Brian Kelly And decide perhaps other schools might be better options for the next four years. |
| 2 days 31 min ago | One comment in almost 11 |
One comment in almost 11 hours (ok now two that i've put something in here) has got to be some sort of a record right? I clicked on figuring the thread had to be locked for some awful thing the OP said but no....it's just a nice, well-researched normal thread that seemingly got lost today in the excitement of Miguel's jumping mishaps and the problems Georgia Tech faces in photshoping. Nice work Blueheron - maybe you should ask the mods to move this to the diary's as it's pretty good stuff you've put together here that certainly warrants more attention than it's recieved IMO. |

"Plenty of Wolverines on the Lions" - can you take at stab at identifying those that they drafted cause I'd love to hear which ones you are referring to. And they wanted to draft Denard but what? They forgot to do so for the first four rounds and it only dawned on them after the first 134 players had been taken that he was still available? |
| 2 days 3 hours ago | I dont know what the deal is |
I dont know what the deal is but it sure seems like in my lifetime the Detroit pro teams seem to avoid Michigan players like the plague. They dont mind the MSU guys as much (Kelser, Cleeves, Abdelkader, Stanton, ect) but when it comes to Michigan guys it sure feels like they would rather draft just about anyone else. Did we piss off the General Managers of the Pistons, Lions, Red Wings en masse at a party or something? And it's been this way since I was kid in the late 60's so Michigan guys getting passed over for reasons unknown has a LONG history it would seem. |

| 2 days 18 hours ago | Sadly for me as great as his |
Sadly for me as great as his career was, the memory that remains burned into my brain when the name Jim Smith is mentioned is not a good one. Ranked #1 in the country where they had been for the past 8 weeks, Michigan got into a dogfight at Purdue and trailed 16-14 with time running out when Smith got behind the secondary and Ricky Leach dropped a pass right on the money that sadly Smith dropped. Later in the game we missed (allegedly) a game winning field goal that at least Bob Ufer thought was good and Michigan suffered their first defeat of the season.

| 5 days 7 hours ago | Here's another difference. In |
Here's another difference. In the Spartan Bob game we 100% would've won had the correct calls been made and the officiating wasnt "questionable" it was out and out wrong. While the 2006 OSU game was absolutely bigger in scope, the Crable call - even if it's not made - didn't 100% lead to our winning. The way that game went we might've scored and they probably would've scored right back. Or we might not have scored at all. There is no way to know what would've happened in those final three minutes and like you accurately said. While it was a bad call in Michigan's eyes it wasnt like it was such a terrible call that the term "Spartan Bob" became known nation-wide as slang for insider cheating and the freaking NCAA CHANGED THE RULES on who was allowed to manage the clock during home games. I'd say a rule change forbidding schools from using locals instead of officials to run the scoreboard is a pretty big damn deal - Crable's hit didnt cause any consternation anywhere outside of Ann Arbor. |

"Worst Call Ever?" Ahhhhhh youth. And this one too.... And certainly this one.... And while no picture exists that I can find I'd toss in the phantom holding call in the 1990 Rose Bowl that robbed Bo of winning his last game.

| 6 days 2 hours ago | I predict Timmy's going to |
I predict Timmy's going to one of those players in a few years where we all say "where the Hell was THAT when he was playing in AA?" I think he's got all the tools, the right mental attitude and is just a generally good all around person. I wish him nothing but success and i LOVE hearing that he's doing well in these drills. As much as I wasnt surprised when Darius went pro too early and dropped to mid 2nd round I predict just the oppostie for THJ. I think he's coming off the board much quicker than people generally expect and I think he made the exact right choice in coming out now. Good for him. |
| 6 days 4 hours ago | I keep holding out for ACTUAL |
I keep holding out for ACTUAL throwbacks cause I think we've got some pretty good ones we could legitimately bust out of the wardrobe closet. In the early 70's we went all white with the away uni's for a couple of years. I think dressed up with some additional yellow side piping these would look pretty cool AND what satisfy both the tradionalists and the kids wanting something "new". |

You missed absolutely nothing by not clicking. There is exponentially more humor embedded in my comments saying there was no humor than there was in that stupid video. |

As I've said in about 50 other threads...any video posted here with the "this is the funniest thing you've ever seen" or other such hyperbole attached to it will not only not be funny....it will SUCK. And Liquid Dream is no exception. Anybody saying this is funny either has zero sense of humor, has a financial stake in the video or is high as a kite. Or all three. |

You are right. I had it out and basically pussed out at the last minute and went with the yellow tie cause my Michigan tie didnt go with my black suit. At least that's the story I'm going with. But truthfully I just pussed out. |
| 6 days 7 hours ago | Yes I did. A good friend of |
Yes I did. A good friend of mine was George Lilja who was an All-American under Bo and ended up here in Northern Ohio when his pro career ended. George asked me if wanted to help out (which I obviously did) so we went up to AA with a LOT of ex-players who had settled in or were from this area and met with Chmiel. We all got lists of players to watch but more than anything our job was to "vet" the players character by getting to know his friends and the type of people he hung out with. TRUST ME - attend a high school game and tell a few people that you're there recruiting for Michigan and you'll get a lot of attention fast. We would find out who the players buddies were, sit with them, and then just listen to the conversation during the game. It was amazing how much you could learn about who was a studier, had a job, liked to smoke pot, you name it by just listening to the friends talk. We also watched games obviously but in our capacity as unoffical recruiters we were signficantly limited in the amount of personal contact we could make. When Bob left for ND in 94 that pretty much ended my recruiting career. No Bob is no longer affiliated with ND or Michigan and is on the speaking/consulting circut now. Ironically he was very good friends with my sister (next door neighbors actually) during his time in Ann Arbor and is one hell of a nice guy and fantastic recruiter. My sister keeps in touch with him or at least she used to but I havent heard anything lately. It was a lot of fun. |

| 1 week 2 hours ago | Never hurts to try though now |
Never hurts to try though now does it? I got to talk to him for about 5-10 minutes last night but we were interrupted literally every 30 seconds or so. What I posted was just a snippet of a much longer email: "Dear Coach Tressel: Thank you speaking last night at the Manny Awards. I’ve been to quite a few of these events through the years and your speech was definitely the most entertaining and memorable I can remember. I appreciate you making the time for us and it was nice meeting you in person again. I am the tall man from Michigan who spoke to you briefly before we entered the hall. While I grew up in Michigan and went to school there I have lived in Northern Ohio since 1987. I met you many years ago at the Northern Ohio high school academic All-American banquet held at Landerhaven when Lloyd Carr was the keynote speaker. If memory serves that evening was one of your first “official” events as the coach of the Buckeyes and you attended it directly after flying back from the Big 10 coaches meeting in Orlando. You and I were both sneaking out early during the film at the end of the evening (you to take your mom home and me to take my son home) and we spoke for several minutes when the two of them decided they needed to use the restroom at the same time. I’m sure you don’t remember that evening but I do as I recruited for Michigan here in northern Ohio for several years in the early to mid 90’s under Bob Chemiel and I was struck by how differently you treated me than my personal experiences with John Cooper. You were friendly and nice to me even though I was wearing a Michigan polo shirt (and made a smart aleck comment) when I’m sure all you wanted to do was get your mom home and begin the drive back to Columbus. Thank you for your kindness and your time. If you’re still reading this email I do have one football question I wanted to ask you last night but time and opportunity obviously did not permit. During your tenure at OSU you definitely created “fortress Ohio” and made recruiting nearly impossible for Michigan. As you well know, if you wanted an Ohio kid you got him. And my Alma Mater absolutely HAS to recruit successfully in Ohio to stay on par with OSU given the relatively poor state of Michigan High School football relative to Ohio. The “zero sum gain” of you keeping all the Ohio kids in Ohio not only strengthen the Buckeyes it weakened Michigan and, while I no longer actively recruit, I’m fascinated that Meyer does NOT seem to be following your lead and is definitely letting us back in. We are not only competitive for the first time since 2000 we are winning recruiting battles head-up and that simply did not happen while you were the Head Coach. Very long preamble to the actual questions. One, why do you think Coach Meyer is foregoing your “Ohio first” recruiting mentality and two; do you think he’ll regret it in the long term? Once again thanks for your time both last night and now in reading my long-winded email. I really do hope things work out for you so you can coach again if that is your goal – as much as I disliked seeing my team lose to you consistently, I have always respected you and remembered that evening where you gave me and my son a bit of your time way beyond what was expected or even deserved. Sincerely,
|

I was suppose to. They told us originally all the winners would be at the head table but then they changed things and had the corporate sponsers sit up front instead. My guess is that there was a LOT of people here in this area who wanted to be there so "money talks" and the guys footing the bill if you will got to sit next to Jim. He spoke about the importance of teamwork in accomplishing goals, that people need to carry an attitude of gratefullness more often (said it got him through some very tough times) and his father. It seems his dad was quite the track star in his day and ran with the oldest living fastest human (sorry forgot his name) way back in the day. LIke I said, he's actually a pretty decent guy when you meet him in person and is absolutely LOVED here in Ohio. |

Amen brother. Their complete almost en masse denial that anyone (outside of Sandusky) did ANYTHING wrong coupled with their refusal to accept saintly JoePa's removal from deity status ripped any shrad of compassion I had for the fan base away. You want sympathy for how that big mean ol media is treating your school? Try ackowledging there was a HUGE problem that got buried by powerful men with an agenda at your school and then reach out to the victims to see if they need any help. Until then.....FUCK PSU. |
