"It's not about last year or who's here or who's isn't here," says your head coach. "It's about getting out here and competing and seeing who is here, and that's where we're gonna go."

I had completely forgotten that bet. Seeing that it involved two parts (one of which I've won - one is yet to be determined) why dont we wait a couple of weeks to settle up?
FYI my email address is DBruce2@hotmail.com. Send me an email and we can figure out the details.
BTW - I was at the game yesterday. El Crappo seats but I was in the building. Actually not that different of seats that I had back in 1989 when I got to see THIS in person....

My guess is they forgot the word "play" because then the bleeped out word "fucking" fits perfectly.
FWIW the fact that we have a head coach that won't stand and clap and say "that's ok" when players can't or won't take instructions is music to my 55 year old ears. I absolutely LOVE that he holds players accountable and my guess is the players are getting a heaping helping of accountability like they've NEVER seen at Michigan before.
And what was the gesture that sent him off? I'd bet heavily on the eye roll. That's the participation trophy generations go-to look when they feel someone in authority is telling them something they really don't want to hear.

About 15 years ago I took my three kids to lunch at Taco Bell and the guy in front of me in line was stoned out of his mind (imagine that). He had a $20 dollar bill and was determined to spend each and every nickle on it for lunch leading to an extremely LONG ordering process as he would order stoner-style (give me one cheeeeeeeeseeeeee ennn-chaaaaa-laaaa-daaaaaaaaa), try and figure out how much he had spent and then how much he had left.
In the midst of this a very old lady (prolly in her 80's) came up to the same cashier screaming at him because she was SURE he had short-changed her a quarter. So this 16 year old cashier had stoner-boy trying to figure out how much food he could buy for $20 and a very pissed off geriatic yelling at him over a quarter.
My kids all watched this with wide-eyed wonder as stoner-boy got three HUGE bags of taco-bell and stumbled off to try and eat it and probably decided to never take a job in fast food if they could avoid it.

Coffee, low sugar OJ, an English Muffin & a bowl of corn chex.
But I'm heading downtown to the Cavs/Celtics game in a few hours and TRUST ME - after a few pre-game beverages I'll be ready to go!

Have you ever met a 16 year old boy before? They are "super self conscious about EVERYTHING concerning their appearance and my guess is he's heard about his height and his ears more than once or twice already from his peers. Probably not something he liked seeing written about him.

I didnt want to comment and jinx things but I didnt have a TV feed here in Ohio so I "watched" the game toggling back and forth between ESPN gamecast (which is just about useless in Hockey it's so behind the action) and you guys.
You think YOU were nervous - try following the game with "woo", "MY MAN" "bullshit call" and "fuckity, fuck, fuck" as your play by play.
But we won right? Prolly have to do this again so as to not screw up the karma.
Edit: Was going to say the same thing Alum96. I cannot even count how many games in the 90s where the Wings would massively outplay, outshoot, outeverything but outscore the other team and lose - usually at home. I didnt see it obviously but 46-14 speaks for itslef that's for sure.

The problem is JORDAN is the one pepetuating the "myth":
"Jordan invited Herring to a ceremony at Chicago’s United Center after his first retirement, in 1994, when a statue was unveiled and his number retired. Jordan furthered the “I got cut” myth during the ceremony, and offered backhanded praise. Jordan noted how much Herring worked with him to improve his game, then added the zinger, “”He knew he made a mistake! He just tried to correct it.”
The article goes on to say the core reason Jordan was put on JV was because he was too short at the time and the coach wanted him to get PT but clearly Jordan thinks he was cut from the team.

In fairness to the OP it's not like Spiceyweiner's thread title would indicate that's what it's about so I understand why he could double post.
EDIT - my bad, didnt see the edit until just now. I guess it DOES indicate it's content at this point.

Michael Jordan's high school when he was in 10th grade. Urban legend says he got cut from that squad so, if true, that must've been the MOTHER of all high school teams assembled.

I secretly rooted against MIchigan in this year's Ohio State game and was happy when we lost. I was afraid that if we somehow won that game and became bowl elegible Hackett would retain Hoke for one more year and we'd be doomed forever.
|5 days 18 hours ago||You got it with one caveat.||
You got it with one caveat. I would not select a QB, no matter how physically gifted, that was as stupid as Jeff George must've been. Not sure if you remember him but he was the guy that the term "great hardware but crappy software" was written about - arm like a cannon but zero ability to read defenses and make good on field decisions.
For me I wouldnt touch a QB under 20 no matter how good he might look otherwise.

Steve Young: 32
John Elway: 34
|5 days 20 hours ago||Not true - we don't "all want||
Not true - we don't "all want to come back" or at least this one fan doesnt. During my first year of not attending Michigan football games in person in 30+ years I found other things to do on Saturday afternoons that I liked quite a bit thank you very much and probably wont give up anytime soon. Oh I'll go back for a game or two each year and I'll catch all others on TV but the days of getting up and driving three hours one way there and back again to watch Eastern Michigan are long gone. And you can thank your heros Dave Brandon & Brady Hoke for ending that habit for me.
I know in your mind there is nothing Michigan can do either on or off the field that would cause you to arrive at the same decision I did and God bless you for that. No product on the field too shitty to watch and no price too high for you to pay to be denied the opportunity to listen to piped in music blasted over the loudspeakers. But I reached a breaking point last year and it would seem, based on the raw numbers, that I wasnt alone. And guess what? Once you fill those 12 hours on Saturday with something else you find life moves on pretty well and I can still enjoy each and every game on TV from the comforts of my basement.

All joshing aside it actually does.
My prior company used to give the Wonderlic to every prospective applicant and I can tell you, without a shadow of doubt, that they are accurate as Hell and a fantatic predictor of the applicant's ability to learn.
0-15: Dont hire under any circumstances. Dumb as a post
15-23: Average to below average intellegence. Will learn but teaching will take some time
24-30: Above average
30-40: Very smart
Trust me - it's easier to teach smart people things than it is stupid people. They "get it" quicker and they retain it longer. If I was a GM in the NFL I would put a lot of stock in the score at QB, Center and any position that involved thinking and not simply reacting to what's happening directly in front of them.

Sorry I dont mean to hijack your hijack but I have a question too and want to know what the board thinks.
Would you guys rather have grapes hand fed to you by shapely, naked young women who exist for the sole purpose of doing whatever you desire whenever you desire it OR have your balls hit repeatidly by a smelly homeless dude with a hammer while his unkept friends slowly pour vinegar, lemon juice and salt over your open wounds?
I'll hang up and listen.
|6 days 23 hours ago||There's a lot of good ones||
There's a lot of good ones but my Browns stand alone at the bottom of the list. What other organization can boast the following:
1. Repeated blown first round draft picks (literally too many to list)
2. A revolving door of head coaches
3. A revolving door of GMs & Team Presidents
4. First owner dies, second owner completely disengaged & third owner, while under federal indictment, meddles constantly in football operations
5. A GM, in direct violation of NFL rules, texting the sideline during games
6. That same GM now suspended for multiple games next season
7. A "celebrity" QB taken more for marketing appeal than football talent who ends in rehab
8. An all-Pro wide out who gets suspended by the league not one, not twice, but three times for repeated substance abuse violations. Same wide out claims "second hand smoke" was the culprit on one his violations and has two separate DUIs.
9. An OC who quits the team mid-contract in disgust
10. In the face of everything above - the Browns raise ticket prices
But tonight is the big new uniform reveal and the city's a buzzin!!!!!! Gonna be covered on all three local news chanels live at 6:00pm. And we've brought in past and present "stars" to model them.
I am not making this shit up. FML.
|1 week 19 hours ago||Agreed but there is a reason for it||
It's because when schedules are announced we were, are and will always be the "circled game" to each and every team we play:
|1 week 21 hours ago||Watch the ball movement here leading to wide open three ball|
|1 week 22 hours ago||100% agree with the LastHarbaugh||
Speaking as a guy who's watched almost every minute of every Cleveland Cavalier game this year I can tell you that the only time the offense DOESNT work is when LeBron dominates the ball and tries to play hero-ball.
If Brian (or anyone else) watched any of their games since they added Smith & Mozgov to the starting line-up you'd see many possessions where the ball is passed rapidly 7-8 times before finding a wide-open shooter on the wing or finishing with a Lebron or Mozgov dunk. The speed in which the ball is moving is at a pace you simply do not see in college ball.
The days of the exclusive high pick n roll & two-man game are largely gone from the NBA. If you havent seen it in a while it's changed a LOT and I agree with Cuban - it's changed for the better.
