They do not understand this. Really - they don't.

OK, I am clueless on ultra high level physics, but help me figure something here. If gravity waves travel at the speed of light, and the Big Bang (I prefer HSK, by the way) gave off gravity waves, wouldn't those waves be "further out" from the Big Bang point than we are, and therefore we will never detect the Big Bang's gravity waves? The only way we could ever detect Big Bang gravity waves would be if some matter from the Big Bang, at some point, traveled faster than light, no?

I think it shows he's done a LOT of growing up. Eventually, we all come to realize what rip-roaring dumbasses we all were at 13. To realize it at 19....I'd say he's definitely had some help from his Wings teammates, but it's a mature take nonetheless.

There's a very strong possibility the video was not uploaded right the minute it was taken.

Sankey would probably try and get the NCAA to ban road games at non-P5 schools, claiming competitive imbalance.

Let's never forget that Sankey is whining about using "students' off time" to practice for a sport THAT PLAYS ON FUCKING SATURDAY.

I am sure the SEC will be boycotting Christmas break bowl games any minute now.

Just wait til they do ban it. Harbaugh will just tell the recruits that the SEC is so scared of him they made up new rules just to stop him....and it'll all be true.

I believe it was you who called I'm Batman's musical tastes "smug, rockist" and continued to make the assumption that anyone who didn't think Kanye was the GOAT was coming from, essentially, a racist position. Victimhood doesn't suit you.

I don't feel even a tiny bit bad for him. He made his choices and is still making them. Whatever issues he has, they're his own doing. He doesn't deserve a football career or any of the money or trappings that go with it, not when there are so many people willing to keep their nose clean (literally) and work a hell of a lot harder for it.
I find myself being unable to care whether he bounces back from rock bottom, or continues to dig. If he makes the decision to bounce back, then I'd hope for him to do so. But he's already, more than once, declared himself ready to straighten up, and played a bunch of people for fools. None of his situation is anyone else's fault.

Funny, I wasn't aware that the blues or jazz (which are certainly included in the musical-instrument realm) were traditional bastions of white guys.

I can't give a shit about where they assemble the cars or parts if I try. "Buy American" means Big 3 to me. Buying a Camry does nothing for the local economy.
In the past I've lived in a few different places around the country, but there's only one other place that "gets" that: Atlanta. Otherwise people say, "whatever." If you ask a native Atlantan where to find a Pepsi in their town, they figure out the Big 3 loyalty pretty quick.

Good week for an open topic thread, 'cause there's plenty of big news in the car realm this past week. No more Dodge Dart or Chrysler 200? Jeez. I really like those cars. But I'm not sorry to see Scion disappear. Just in time to cut those awful "weird, right" commercials off at the knees.

Being as I work for a car company, the boss carved out some time for us to go during work. Definitely a plus going on a weekday vs. a weekend. Best thing: Ford finally smartened up, stopped shoving Lincoln in a corner, and put it near the other luxury brands in the middle of the floor. And I'm biased, but the new Conti was Best in Show if you ask me, so it was good timing to get a more central location.
Also wished more than ever that Pontiac was still around, because that Buick concept, forget its name, was a beautiful car and would've worked even better as a Pontiac.
I might have spent a little more time than I meant to at the Alfa display. They had the best models on the floor. The cars were nice too.

I believe it. You posted this at 12:08. It's now 1:27 by my computer. In the time between our posts, Ford booked almost eight million dollars of revenue from just F-150s. (Car companies always book revenue when a vehicle rolls off the line, those trucks come off about one every minute, and there are two plants building them.)

|1 week 1 day ago||UConn didn't get into the ACC||
UConn didn't get into the ACC because the southern portion of the conference, i.e. the more football-oriented portion, i.e. FSU and Clemson mainly, pushed for Louisville to pump up the football cred. This was before the agreement where everyone signed away their TV rights, so they had a lot of leverage and used it to pick Maryland's replacement. Literally nothing Manuel could have done.
Although I don't expect Michigan will ever need his "get us into a better conference" skills.

Is anyone else offended by the "opportunity" offered by Infiniti to give them your email address and get spammed?
Sponsorship is one thing - hey, the damn thing needs money somehow - but using a charity challenge as a chance to harvest emails comes off as sleazy.

The rest of the schedule is murder. Only two "easy" teams left. Any kind of a winning record in the next nine would be a plus, and 4-5 would still be a reasonable expectation and not to get bent out of shape about.
Also, fuck Delany with a hot poker for giving us two games against Maryland and one each against MSU and OSU.

Has to be Braylonfest. Was able to "sneak" into the student section for that one. (Friend's brother's ticket and ID, which latter they didn't even ask for.) They say the Big House doesn't get loud, but that game is proof they're full of it. I swear there was a ringing in my left ear after one of Braylon's catches.

His "work" on the VT 24/7 site earned him the nickname "Shurburtthole" among UVA fans. Wrote a lot of silly things designed to feed delusions. Three-star prospects would be the second coming, until and unless VT cooled on them, in which case they would lose half a second from their 40 time. Spent a lot of time pumping up Shane Beamer for the South Carolina job. "Hearing there's a lot of interest there. If they want a dynamic young coach with fresh ideas to take the program to the next level, the choice is obvious." By "lot of interest" he of course meant Shane wanted the job. He ended up as the TE coach at UGA, which is a long way from head coach.
|1 week 6 days ago||Wait a minute, why should a||
Wait a minute, why should a school assume there are under-qualified people attending? They have an admissions process for a reason. And if diversity considerations are truly - and purposely - admitting under-qualified students, then that's an incredibly self-serving and destructive thing for the school to do. That would be just using under-qualified minorities as an excuse to wave a diversity flag.

Let's be honest: One of the absolutely critical reforms for student loan programs is that they be limited to certain majors. STEM majors, generally. You can get a gender studies degree on your own dime.
|2 weeks 32 min ago||First off, everyone wants #2,||
First off, everyone wants #2, so it's kind of strawman-y to suggest that someone arguing against a bailout doesn't. Second, #1 is hard to accomplish without a bailout of some kind. Lower the interest rate? OK. Work a little harder on payment plans? OK. But it's not mutually exclusive to argue for easier payments and that people who incurred an obligation should, in fact, have to live up to that obligation.
It might be that nobody here is arguing for a bailout, but certainly there is plenty of clamor for it in the "national debate."
|2 weeks 2 hours ago||Possibly could say the same||
Possibly could say the same to you. What he said was, he and his family should get the same help. Also, he didn't say tuition or interest rates shouldn't go down. He said that if people are going to have their loans forgiven just for being too much to handle, he wants his cut.
And it makes sense. Punishing the people who made it themselves and rewarding people who got themselves into a bad situation (and believe me, not one person who is in student loan debt can say that literally none of it was their own doing), it should surprise nobody when that causes resentment.
|2 weeks 2 hours ago||I think it's perfectly||
I think it's perfectly logical to be resentful when, having worked hard to be self-sufficient, one is asked to bail out people who didn't take the same care. Paying twice for the same thing so that someone else doesn't have to pay at all isn't a good system.
This is not to say that everyone saddled with student debt that they can't pay is in that situation due to laziness or stupidity. But many are.
