Part II

Hopefully Teryl Austin and Adam Gase get some recognition in Part II (or whichever part) that includes NFL coordinators.

Would be curious to hear opinion from friends-of-MGoBlog Todd Howard and Marlin Jackson who were coached by TA while he was Michigan's defensive backs coach from 99-02.

Written by

Written by former Michigan Daily writer Tim Rohan. Good article.

Will be there as well.

Will be there as well. Tailgating in the Hawkeye Village at the baseball stadium but would also be great to meet up with other Michigan fans prior to the game.

Re: swidgin

Was waiting for the first Deadwood reference. Am not disappointed.

Look forward to it

Going to be a fun weekend in Chicago.

Typo fixed

That typo is now fixed, so thanks for pointing it out. No actual confusion about where the game is being played.

Spike w/ 13 secs left

In addition to being unprepared to run a play while the clocked was stopped for the entirety of the 40 second play clock, that spike also take an extra second off the clock. May not seem like a big deal, but after the 5 yard reception brought us to the 34-yard line, we had 7 seconds remaining in regulation instead of 8.

With 8 seconds left, do we try to get another 4-5 yards on the sideline to make the FG more makeable (which we should have done with 7 seconds left anyway)? That spike may have cost us a play and an opportunity for a more makeable last-second game-winning FG. Why settle for a 52-yarder when you can run another quick hit play along the sideline?

Trip to Northwestern

One option - if you don't want to stress about planning your own trip for Northwestern - is the trip we are running for that weekend: http://www.sportspowerweekends.com/events/michigan-vs-northwestern-week…

Hotel, game tickets, tailgate, etc all covered. No need to worry about any of the particulars.

In regards to game time, remember it will be a central time kickoff. If I had to guess I would say 2:30 PM CT for the kick. It should be officially announced 12 days in advance.

Sports Power Weekends

Here is the info for remaining bus spots from DC to State College on our coach buses: http://www.sportspowerweekends.com/events/michigan-vs-penn-state-buses-…

DC trip

DC will be well represented! Going to be a fun day and a large Michigan alumni contingent!

No need for concern

No need for concern. If you are taking the NYC bus the tickets will be there for you at check-in. All other tickets were shipped Monday night USPS with tracking and most should arrive Thursday. Feel free to email me and we can track the estimated delivery of your tickets. Thanks and Go Blue!

This will be great for Steve

This will be great for Steve. QB who can hit him in stride and an offensive system that will get him the ball in space. Hope his knee is healthy and he has a huge year.

Away game tickets + hotel

We have tickets (and in many cases hotel and tailgate) for each of the away games. Check us out and contact me through the site if interested: http://www.sportspowerweekends.com/events/michigan-football-sports-powe…

Much better plan

Tickets, hotel in downtown Chicago, transportation to game, Michigan tailgate, and more!

Hotels for ND

Gameday Housing is a great option for large groups, but if you have a smaller group and are looking for tickets and housing, we have hotel rooms at the Fairfield Inn in Ann Arbor.

Also a private Michigan Stadium tour with club, suite and field access on Friday night before ND.

Check us out and contact us through the site with any questions: http://www.sportspowerweekends.com/michigan-football-sports-power-weeke…

Arkansas

Seth, you may want to consider adding the Arkansas series to the wiki as well:

U-M also announced a home-and-home series with Arkansas to open the 2018 and '19 seasons. The Wolverines will host Arkansas at the Big House in the season opener on Sept. 1, 2018, with a return trip to Fayetteville, Ark., scheduled for Aug. 31, 2019.

Validation

The cost of validation is the difference between the student ticket price and the public price of the ticket. Here is the info from last year: http://www.mgoblue.com/tickets/mcard-fbl.html

I imagine that they will use the price of $95 for ND and Ohio State to estabilish the validation cost, as opposed the dynamic single game price of those games.

Indiana tix

I have a bunch of Indiana tickets and can certainly help you with a pair or whatever you need. Feel free to contact me through my company site to discuss: http://www.sportspowerweekends.com/michigan-football-sports-power-weeke…

I can try to work with you on this by re-arranging the tickets I have so you can get three together or at least very very close together. Contact me through my site to discuss: http://www.sportspowerweekends.com/michigan-football-sports-power-weeke…

We have PSU tix well below secondary market prices.

Transportation

My company, Sports Power Weekends, is running roundtrip coach buses from NYC to East Hartford for the game.

Check it out here: http://www.sportspowerweekends.com/bus-from-nyc-for-michigan-at-uconn

We are going to arrive three hours prior to kickoff to allow for tailgating, and will return shortly after the game. No need to find a car or designated driver, pay for gas and parking, etc. We've got it all covered. Contact me through the site if you have any questions!

Bo's

Bo's Lasting Lessons was really terrific. Definitely recommended.

Kraft Bowl

Once the Kraft Bowl moves to the new stadium in Santa Clara I bet they make a push to become a more prestigious bowl with better matchups. And when people see the stadium compared to Qualcomm it will not be so far-fetched. Though San Diego is certainly nicer than the Bay Area at that time of year.

For people going from NY

If you are interested, my company is running roundtrip coach buses from New York City to Rentschler Field for the game. Could be a good option for people who don't want to have to deal with driving or finding a designated driver, dealing with parking, traffic, etc. Also will be fun to arrive with 50-100 Michigan fans/alums and have the opportunity to tailgate together.

Feel free to contact me via my info on the site with any questions. Thanks!

Amazingly

From the title I figured the article referred to football, but didn't discount the possibility that it was about basketball. The future is bright!

Banner contest

Brian going to bring back the banner contest for this?

Maybe can incorporate Hoke-Devin-Lewan and Beilein-McGary. The biggest stars on campus.

RE: Out of all the franchise

Almost every other team between 3-10 has an established or highly drafted point guard. Trey's path to starting and establishing the Kings as his team is clearest. Also new owners can really turn a franchise around quickly, as we've seen in Golden State. Not ideal, but most teams in the top 10 are there for a reason.

Sacramento

No shame in being drafted with the seventh overall pick. Sacramento may actually be a decent spot for him compared to other options in the Top 10 if he drops past Orlando. Especially if he builds a good relationship with Cousins.

RE: I never

He does get laid out. And to redeem his name on this thread I present:

RE: I prefer this memory

Touchdown Manningham!

I went

I was at the NYC event. I thought it was great, but hadn't been to a coach event since the Rodriguez/Bill Martin event in NY before the 2008 season. The lunch buffett was good and the room was full. Don't have a basis for comparison from last year, but I think there were probably 150 people or so there.

After the event Hoke, Beilein, Brandon and Mattison were there to sign/chat/take photos. The Hoke line was the longest, but Beilein's really wasn't much smaller. Brandon took time to speak at length with people so his line moved pretty slow, but I and others definitely appreciated the time. Mattison was having a good time with the people who lined up for him. They all waited until everyone on line had a chance to meet, and while it may have thrown off their schedules, I imagine everyone in attendance went home happy.

Not much was said that was particularly newsworthy. Someone did ask if Brandon was going to try to move the Rutgers game off campus to MetLife Stadium. He said that would be a Rutgers decision and he would not be involved in the process.

One person asked a super snarky question to Hoke. I think it was "do you think technology will ever advance to the point where you would consider wearing a headset during the game?" Hoke once again explained his rationale for not wearing one, but inside I think he wanted to bodyslam the guy for the way he asked the question.

All in all, great event, great job by the UMNYC, and I would definitely do it again next year.

Follow up

If we are locked in already for 2016, I wouldnt mind doing the home and home in 2017-18. We'd add the Pac-12 team to our home slate with Cincy in 2017, and in 2018 we'd make the return trip while our home schedule already has Arkansas on it.

Curious to see how it all shakes out, and how we work around the years when we have 5 home conference games compared to the years we have only 4.

RE: West Coast Opponent

Would be great to do another home-and-home with them. A trip to Seattle would be a lot of fun.

RE: USC or Washington, but mainly USC

I'm not sure how this would work out with 3 home games set and a 9 game conference schedule starting in 2016.

Would be great to slot a Pac-12 team in on Sept 10 and maybe move that Ball State game to 2017, when we already have Cincinnati as a one-off home game.

RE: 2 wins on the road at EL?

Especially since it is increasingly likely that the 2014 game will be played at night: http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/77863/msu-to-consider-hosting-…

RE: I'm afraid they will try to

They'll never catch him.

Jags

Side note since it involves Denard, Commissioner Goodell stated today that there is a "good chance" the Jaguars will play two games per season in London "very soon."

Denard will make fans in Wembley go crazy.

Re: Spurs

Duncan is amazing. Best power forward of all time. But LeBron is the best player of the last 15 years. Even if he has only been playing 10 seasons.

I always think

He is going to trip over the camera wire while he backs up during the dance. Look out behind you!

I wonder

If we would find a way to move the Ball State game to 2017, pair that with Cincy as the non-conference home games to go with MSU and OSU as conference home games, and try to get a big-time home-and-home going for 2016-17.

That would at least give as a strong home schedule in 2017, and go a long way towards strengthening the 2016 home slate. Also, Wisco and/or Nebraska would likely be on the 2016 home schedule since it would be severely unbalanced to have OSU, MSU, and Wisco/Neb all home or away during the same season.

RE: Doesn't the B1G start 9 game

Good point. In that case, having a Sept. 10 open date is very unfortunate bye week placement for both the team and the fans.

RE: We have this THRILLING non

Could add a one-off in 2016 to spice that up, or even a 2016-17 home-and-home. We have Cincinnati coming to the Big House in 2017 so far.

Hoke mentioned working on a Syracuse game during his appearance on the Rich Eisen podcast last week.

http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/050913aaf.html

RE: well, no home night games for

You are probably right, but Penn State will be the third night game at the Big House when we host them in 2014, so it is possible the novelty will have worn off a bit by 2015.

If that is the case, maybe if Oregon State or BYU are pre-season ranked we would try to make that a perceived third marquee game, and do it under the lights. Possibly Northwestern if they are coming off a West Division championship?
